Job Description:

The Humanities Department at SUNY Maritime College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Maritime History beginning August, 2026. The selected incumbent will teach lower division general education courses, upper division electives, and graduate classes in US, Global, and Maritime History, with an emphasis on diverse cultures and perspectives.

The successful candidate will enhance the national appeal of our growing undergraduate program (MRST) and will further enhance the international draw of our graduate program (MNST). In addition, the candidate must be able to work closely with graduate students on research and digital scholarship projects.

We strongly encourage candidates with teaching and research interests in any of the following fields to apply: maritime and nautical histories; indigenous and/or marginalized peoples and cultures; archival study; and digital humanities.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Ph. D. in Maritime History or a related field
• Substantial experience teaching History, including hybrid and online
• Active research agenda in Maritime fields

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience teaching and scholarship of global maritime cultures

Additional Information:

Classification: The Assistant Professor 10 Months is tenure trach UUP position. The anticipated salary will be $65,000.00 to $70,000.00 inclusive of an outstanding benefits package (for more information, please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance.pdf). Support bottom prep, sanding, masking, and painting when required

**SUMMER** Launch Driver

The Onset Bay Center seeks a motivated Launch Driver to assist in the delivery of on-the-water and outdoor recreation programs at the Onset Bay Center in Onset, MA. The Launch Driver will assist Bay Explorers, Sailing, and partner programs for Summer ‘26. The position reports to the Onset Bay Center Director.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate our Oldport 26 Launch boat, Bufflehead, transporting staff and participants to various locations around Onset Bay
- Function as a safety vessel, when needed, assisting in providing first aid and transportation to participants who need to leave their groups momentarily
- Understand and effectively communicate safe boating practices to staff and participants while operating the launch
- Practice safe docking and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and town harbormasters and employees on the pier
- Ensure a safe environment for all participants and equipment, on and off the water
- Work with OBC senior staff to maintain the program equipment.
- Coordinate and communicate with OBC senior staff & instructors as well as program partners regarding weather conditions, equipment needs, and logistics.

Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2026.
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and move boating equipment (with assistance)
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong communication & interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
- A CORI check will be required.
- Knowledge of Buzzards Bay, watershed ecology, and familiarity with local and regional environmental issues preferred
- USCG Limited Masters License (also known as USCG Launch Operators License) (paid training and course completion provided)
- Must meet the REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 120 days underway experience on like vessels (time acquired since age 16), 90 of those days in the last 3 years

**SUMMER** Launch Operator

**SUMMER** Sailing Instructor

Onset Bay Center seeks an energetic and responsible Sailing Instructor to lead sailing camp programs for youth ages 8-15, as well as adult and family programs on day, evenings, and weekends for Summer ‘26!

Sailing Instructors receive training and will work as a team under the guidance of the Waterfront Manager and Onset Bay Center Director, using both keelboat and dinghy sailing equipment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implement daily lesson plans and course setting based on participants’ abilities and ages (beginner sailing) on our RS Quests, RS Zests, Hobie Getaway, and Drascombe Gig sailboats.
- Assist with participant arrival and pick up.
- Instruct participants in sailing, seamanship, and maritime skills.
- Lead by example, set the tone for positive youth development.
- Communicate effectively with co-instructors, junior instructors, and supervisors to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Create a safe, comfortable and friendly environment.
- Ensure a safe environment for all activities on and off the water.
- Manage and care for program equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:
Certifications to be completed prior to program (candidates will be reimbursed upon completion for necessary certifications)
- US Sailing Level 1
- Online Boating Safety Certificate
- Lifeguard OR Basic Water Rescue (Am. Red Cross)
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED for adults and children
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for outdoor activities, in various weather conditions.
- Age 18+, experience in sailing instruction, general education, or youth programming preferred.
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong oral communication & interpersonal skills.
CORI check required.

Compensation and Schedule:
This is a seasonal, full-time summer position. Detailed schedule will be discussed with OBC senior staff. Hourly wage is $17-$20/hr and is commensurate on experience and qualifications. No employee benefits are provided. Staff Training dates include weekend dates from June 6 - 21. A typical work week will be Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00 pm, with programs taking place June, 22 through August, 21. Weekend, evening and early morning programs may be scheduled.

This position is for a HVAC maintenance mechanic that will provide facilities support for several office buildings in and around the New Haven CT area. This individual will report directly to the Facility Manager and support the property management team while working directly with tenants. The position encompasses HVAC, general building maintenance and repairs, involvement with life safety and preventative maintenance field work. Excellent customer service skills, working independently without close supervision, and high attention to detail skills are required. Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for routine maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment used in commercial buildings (60%).
Works on assessing building HVAC systems and guiding proper contractors to perform repairs as needed.
Perform routine maintenance and repair of plumbing, roofs, and electrical systems, life safety systems, building inspections, and building preservation (30%).
Perform work as directed by Facility Manager.
Job Requirements:

Ability to diagnose problems and perform preventative maintenance and repair on all types of equipment including split systems, air handlers, thermostats, condensers, fans, evaporators, and Laboratory MUA units.
Competence in HVAC test equipment, gauges, meters, and measuring instruments is needed.
Experience using standard HVAC hand tools, and the ability to conduct leak detection and repairs.
Ability to oversee mechanical sub-contractor’s work to ensure contractor is performing work per the requested scope.
