Growing South Florida marine services company is searching for an experienced IT Manager for their office in Pompano Beach, FL.

This position will involve:

Managing corporate-wide laptop and desktop computers, printers and any other networking equipment.
Maintain network security i.e. firewalls, virus protection, VPN, etc.
Maintain corporate cloud server which is utilized by a global workforce.
As it supports employees traveling outside the USA, this position will require occasional work outside of normal work hours.

We also have a common cloud with our Poland office and our guys that are out traveling on projects so that they can log into our “server” (cloud) while outside the office.

The opportunity:

The Chief Mate is designated by the Company as the second in command of the subsea rock installation vessel (SRIV) and is the legally appointed representative of the Company responsible under existing law for the vessel in the absence or incapacitation of the Master. The SRIV is a DP2 specialized OSV equipped to carry varying types/grades of rock from quarries/port out to install as scour protection on project sites for offshore wind farms, over power/communication cables, or pipelines.

Responsibilities and functions include:

May serve as the Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch (OICNW) as directed by the Master.
Manages the day-to-day activities of the deck and is responsible for the coordination and supervision of tasks performed by the deck crew, clients, and sub-contractors as directed by the Master.
Shall ensure that these tasks are performed in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and IIF safety culture.
Assists the Master in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel with a focus on navigation, piloting, DP Operations, emergency readiness and training, vessel stability and seaworthiness, maintenance of deck, safety, lifesaving, and cargo equipment, protection of the environment, as well as performance of cargo operations.
May be assigned to run fall pipe equipment during rock installation activities as directed by the Master.
Must be familiar with union labor agreements and apply that knowledge in crew resource management, cost control, crew competency assessment, and training.
Shall cooperate and work closely with flag state, port state and coastal state officials, customer representatives, project team, Chief Engineer, and any other relevant personnel necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel as directed by the Master.
Experience with Kongsberg DP/VMS systems is a strong preference
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Master.

Requirements:

Must possess U.S. Coast Guard unlimited license for Chief Mate / Chief Officer, Oceans

DUTIES
• Report to the Waterfront Manager concerning areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for daily operation and maintenance of the Academy vessels.
• Employee must be prepared to be away from the Academy on vessel charters from time to time.
• Ensure that all personnel on board are familiar with safety precautions, procedures and drills and that the required safety equipment is on board at all times.
• Recommend action in case of personnel or equipment problems.
• Carry out various administrative functions.
• Assists with timely inspections of COI vessels, safety, lifesaving, firefighting and other emergency equipment.
• Preps and participates in annual USCG inspection of vessels. Coordinates with Surveyors for annual insurance safety inspections.
• Under the direction of the Marine Operations Manager or his designee, the employee is expected to perform multiple boat trips for Academy programs.
• Plan preventive maintenance and upgrades for systems, and successfully implement the ship’s planned maintenance system.
• Ensures adherence to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
• Supervises student employees.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Directs and assists with loading/unloading of gear and equipment for various small craft uses.
• Maintains deck, engine, and radio logbooks on designated small craft.

OSW Wind Farm Operator

Job Summary

The Offshore Wind Farm Operator will support site operations through daily coordination of the safe, efficient and cost-effective transfer of personnel and equipment from the onshore base to the offshore work sites (and vice versa) via marine vessels and helicopters. The Wind Farm Operator ensures all necessary conditions are satisfied before staff can commence transit to the work site e.g. work orders are in place, tools and equipment are available, staff are competent/authorized to undertake work and sea and weather conditions are within acceptable parameters. The Wind Farm Operator will also provide the remote monitoring and operation of turbine status via SCADA in order to identify any issues that require corrective action.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate activities related to the transfer of personnel and equipment by vessels and / or helicopter to ensure that this is carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Supporting the planning of work schedules to maximize the most effective use of personnel and transfer vessels/ helicopters.

Support establishing access parameters taking account of weather forecasts, sea conditions and light conditions to ensure consistent go, no go and stand-down decisions are made in order to ensure safe transit and access to work sites can be achieved.

Monitor weather conditions to ensure the safety of personnel and to optimize working time offshore.

Coordinate with National Control Center / Site HV Manager if HV switching is required

Conduct HV switching operations

Initiate and coordinate the project emergency response

Initiate (ERP) where required in order to effectively resolve the situation.

Ensure adherence to all H&S procedures associated with maritime/offshore working

Act as Operational Controller under the WTSR

Monitor WTG SCADA and act upon alarms / issues where they arise to ensure efficient response times are achieved and generation maximized.

Keep records on daily activities, usage of vessels and weather conditions

Supply data to assist in the short- and long-term maintenance planning process

Regularly update management on site activities to keep them informed of any issues/challenges experienced.

Effective and efficient operation of offshore logistics in cooperation with Siemens and other contractors

Optimize operational expenditure through efficient and safe marine control procedures

Coordinate the movement & positions of vessels on the pontoon to ensure mobilization/demobilization is a streamlined as possible

Support coordinating all marine traffic in the site, and vessels transiting between site and main port

Monitoring all vessel and personnel movements offshore by use of Personnel Tracking System (PTS) and Vessel Tracking System (VTS). Guaranteeing the location of all personnel offshore is known should an emergency situation arise

Ensuring all personnel going offshore are suitably qualified and hold all the necessary certification

Our Deck Officers, referred to as Mates, are responsible for the safe navigation of our vessels and cargo operations. Engine Department Officers, referred to as Engineers, are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our vessels' machinery and propulsion plants.

Many of our officers were previously employed as unlicensed seamen on our vessels. Unlicensed seamen must first meet minimum sea time requirements and take US Coast Guard license exams in order to obtain a license as a Mate/First Class Pilot or Third Assistant Engineer.

All of our officers are members of the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (M.E.B.A.), the nation’s oldest maritime labor union, established in 1875.

All Interlake officers receive room and board while employed aboard one of our vessels. We also provide paid vacation, pension, medical, and education benefits through M.E.B.A.

Deck Officers (Mates)

All Great Lakes deck officers must meet the following requirements:

Valid U.S. Coast Guard license as Mate (Great Lakes)

Endorsement as First Class Pilot of Any Gross Tons upon the Great Lakes (between Duluth, Gary, and Buffalo)

Job Description:

The Vice President for Regimental Affairs & Master has ultimate command of the Maritime College Training Ship and is responsible for its safe and efficient operation, including: ship's seaworthiness, safety and security conditions, training operations, safe navigation, crew management and ensuring that the vessel complies with all federal, state and international laws and regulations, as well as Maritime Administration (MARAD), State (SUNY), Maritime College, Classification Society (ABS) and Flag State rules and policies. The Master is responsible for facilitating the College's deck and engine shipboard training programs, which the Provost and academic departments manage. The Master is also responsible for liaison with the Maritime Administration and various other federal agencies. In this leadership role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for navigating complex waters, managing crew and Cadet performance, facilitating applicable MARAD policies to include EMBARC and other prevention initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of maritime safety in an academic environment, at sea and import. This is a Management Confidential position reporting directly to and serving at the pleasure of the President and is a part of the President's Cabinet. The Master is also a faculty member in the Marine Transportation Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the Regimental Affairs division in their work to develop and prepare regimental students for life at sea
• Provide leadership opportunities and promote student success and retention
• Perform the duties of the Master, including navigating and piloting the vessel
• Performs the operation of shipboard and other automated systems.
• Operate ship's navigation and communication electronics when required
• Maintenance of the vessel necessary to maintain its operational status and material readiness
• Prepare for and conduct annual U.S. Coast Guard inspection, periodic FCC inspections, and internal and external audits
• Administer the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure the safety of crew members and passengers by providing safety instruction, conducting drills and monitoring activities, and ensuring all safety systems are operable
• Maintain and update all vessel documents and records, and submit all required reports related to the vessel
• Coordinate with the Designated Person Ashore on applicable topics
• Keep vessel's pier and storage areas neat and organized
• Identify vessel and operations improvement opportunities
• Preparations to support ongoing summer sea term cruises and summer sea terms on any other academy training ships utilized by Maritime College to support summer sea term
• Plan and coordinate port visits to ensure appropriate clearances are submitted and obtained, and work with port agents
• Compliance with all applicable federal, state, SUNY, and Maritime College rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Administer and document disciplinary actions as needed, including progress reports and written warnings
• Assist with marketing and public relations ideas that include EMPIRE STATE
• Maintain a fair work and academic environment, free of discrimination and harassment, and contribute to a welcoming and safe environment where all are respected and valued
• Professional training and/or mentoring experience of the students onboard the vessel
• Professional training and development of crew members
• Demonstrate a strong professional presence and diplomatic skills to represent SUNY Maritime College effectively while meeting and hosting dignitaries and visitors in U.S. and foreign ports
• Support strategic initiatives aligned with the mission, vision, and core values of SUNY Maritime College
• Teach one course each semester in the Maritime Transportation Department
• Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• Within the past five years, applicants shall have served at least two years as Master or Chief Mate on Ocean Self-propelled Vessels of Unlimited Tonnage, while holding a Master of Ocean, Unlimited Tonnage license
• Outstanding professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
• Ability to work irregular, extended hours/weeks, including night and weekend duties, as required in a physically challenging outdoor environment
• Ability to work in a student-centered training environment
• Experience and ability to execute and monitor the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS)
• CPR, AED, O2 & 1st Aid certified
• Excellent boat handling skills and conservative judgment
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies and their procedures as applicable to ship operations and maritime training
• Strong supervisory skills to manage a training vessel relating to environmental, labor and all matters pertaining to personnel
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of the crew, staff, faculty, students, management, alumni and the general public
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites

Preferred Qualifications:

• Served as Master or Chief Mate of Unlimited Tonnage Public Nautical School Ships, while holding a Master of Ocean, Unlimited Tonnage license
• Recent sailing experience within the past two years as Master or Chief Mate of Unlimited Tonnage Ocean Self-propelled Vessels, while holding a Master of Ocean, Unlimited Tonnage license
• Teaching experience at a maritime college or maritime training facility
• Teaching experience, particularly in Bridge Resource Management and simulators

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Captain of the Training Ship & Vice President of Regimental Affairs is a full-time calendar year Management/Confidential unclassified position which serves at the President's pleasure. The anticipated salary range for the position is $150,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually with an outstanding benefits package (for additional information, please see the M/C13-Unclassified-Benefits-at-Glance. Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
