This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Regional Vice President. This position can be based out of our Portsmouth, NH; Staten Island, NY; Philadelphia, PA; or Baltimore, MD locations.

POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Regional Port Captain is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on tugs and towing operations who assists the Regional Vice President in ensuring and improving safety of operations and excellence in the fleet. The Regional Port Captain is expected to collaborate with operations, safety, and engineering teams for safe and efficient operations. When directed, the Regional Port Captain will directly interact with local management and marine personnel, including aboard Moran assets, to carry out corporate objectives in accordance with the company Mission Statement.
 
The Regional Port Captain effectively works in an unsupervised capacity and communicates with employees shoreside and afloat. The incumbent will work independently and as a team member, demonstrating good judgment, initiative, and excellent organizational skills. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, but the incumbent must be available, if required, during off-hours, weekends, and holidays. Frequent travel to ports of operation within the region is required, with some additional travel to other Moran locations expected.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED, TO:
 
     *          Verifying Safety of Operations
 
o   Identify and Correct, as necessary, unsafe conditions or behaviors.
 
o   Regularly Review the Safety Management System for applicability and effectiveness.
 
     *          Verifying Operational Excellence
 
o   Identify Opportunities for Improvement.
 
o   Assist with Competency Evaluations and Performance Reviews.
 
o   Assist with Crew Training and Professional Development.
 
o   Ensure Deck Preventative Maintenance Program is effectively implemented.
 
o   Develop, Observe and Incorporate Best Practices.
 
     *          Manage Regional and Corporate Programs
 
o   Maintain an Inventory of Wheelhouse and Deck Equipment
 
o   Manage the Wheelhouse and Navigation Safety Plan and Upgrade Program
 
o   As directed, assist with the implementation of new policies, programs, or capital improvement projects.
 
     *     Support Regional Operations
          +           Assist with repair periods or new asset deliveries as required, including transits.
          +           Assist with preparation of tows and tow surveys.
          +           Assist with regulatory compliance.
          +           Assist with internal/external audits.
          +           Perform Asset Surveys as directed.
          +           Assist with Damage or Injury Investigations as directed.
          +           Monitor Weather Threats, Review Local Response Plans and Ensure Readiness
          +           Manage the Line Inventory and Replacement Programs
          +           Assisting with Voyage Planning and Reviewing Voyage Plans
          +           Maintain Engagement with Port Stakeholders as Appropriate
          +           Advise as directed. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
     * Minimum 5 years of work aboard Towing Vessels as Captain
     * Current USCG Licensure to include Master of Towing Vessels with Near Coastal Endorsements
     * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs
     * Valid driver’s license and Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
     * Proven successful management experience and demonstrated strong leadership skills and decisive decision-making.
     * Ability to work effectively individually and as a team member.
     * Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to take initiative, multi-task, interpret data, speak publicly, operate in stressful situations, and make quick decisions.
     * Ability to speak publicly in large groups for presentations.
     * Demonstrated good judgment, initiative, and organizational skills.
     * Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
     * Effective use of Microsoft Office computer skills, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
     * Bachelor’s degree in transportation or marine engineering. Work experience will be factored with education.
     * Designated Examiner Endorsement
     * Operations experience in the maritime industry.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE ABILITY TO:
     * Board a vessel while moored via barge landing or underway via crew boat and withstand tug motion and high temperature areas for periods of time.
     * Cross bulwarks; frequently walk, including on uneven surfaces; climb ladders and stairs; stoop; bend; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; and use a keyboard and computer screen.

We operate a 26ft Old Port Launch in the Hyannis Port mooring field. We have openings for both, full time (40 Hours a week) and part time postions.
The season is in full swing and ends in October. HPYC gives one of its MMA staff a scholarship after every season, and has been hiring MMA Cadets since 2010.

The importance this role has in our organization:    

This position will be responsible for the "hands-on" day-to-day operation of a 24/7 data center that includes administrative office space. The facility incorporates state of the art redundant power and environmental systems.  

This position is responsible for performing basic preventive maintenance tasks, cleaning equipment rooms, troubleshooting electrical / mechanical equipment, and operating building control systems.  

What you will be doing:  

Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:

Perform routine maintenance tasks on data center equipment.
Identify and address equipment issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with vendors and specialists for more complex repairs and equipment replacements.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

Assist in troubleshooting, working closely with the technical team to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Assist in documenting incidents, resolutions, and lessons learned to facilitate future issue resolution and process improvement.

Preventive Maintenance and Upgrades:

Execute preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, testing, and inspecting equipment to prevent issues and extend the lifespan of hardware.

Equipment Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate records of all data center hardware assets, including serial numbers, specifications, and locations.

Job Description:

The Marine Transportation Department is currently recruiting for three non-tenure-track LECTURERS or tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSORS, which are full-time, 10-month faculty positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be assigned various Marine Transportation, Navigation, Nautical Operations, and Maritime Technology courses as the needs of the Department, the Chair, and their background allow. Participation in two out of three summer sea terms on an annual basis is expected and will be compensated in addition to the annual salary.

• The incumbents report to the Chair of the Department of Marine Transportation and will be assigned courses in Vessel Operations, Seamanship, Rescue Craft, Management and Maritime Regulation, Basic and Advanced Navigation, Celestial Navigation, Ship Handling, Rules of the Road, Stability, Ships Construction, License Preparation, and Simulator Operations. It can include other courses as well, at the discretion of the Chair, as the needs of the Department dictate and their background allows
• Several ship and license-related classes involve experiential education components, including teaching outdoors on the pier, operating and commanding small vessels, evolutions onboard the Training Ship or in the swimming pool, and the external fire fighting field. Candidates must be comfortable teaching in both these environments and the classroom
• The selected individual will participate in campus and departmental committee assignments and be active and involved in the Maritime Industry through publication, participation in regulatory events, or industry conferences as the needs of the Department and at the discretion of the Chair may require

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation, Marine Operations, or a similar, related field
• STCW OPERATIONAL Level License, Unlimited/Oceans with experience as either a Third or Second Mate on US-Flag merchant vessels of unlimited tonnage vessels. Sea service on foreign flag vessels for mariners who also possess a US license is acceptable.
• Experience on commercial vessels of any type commensurate with experience, including military sealift, dry cargo, and liquid cargo, gas, bulk, container, passenger, offshore, inland / brown water, etc.
• Current familiarity and experience in the international regulatory environment and SMS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Maritime education and /or training or familiarization responsibilities, ashore or afloat
• Management-level licensure and commensurate experience
• Graduate Degree(s) in a field relevant to the needs of the Maritime Industry
• Endorsements such as Tankerman PIC DL, LG, Barge, DP, Crowd Mgmt., TOAR, and any such relevant licensure endorsements that enhance the candidate's knowledge base and proficiency
• Graduate of a recognized Maritime Academy

Exceptions

• License may be in continuity, but preference will be given to active licenses, including a current Medical Certificate
• Relevant USN, USCG, or NOAA sea experience will be considered, but commercial experience
• International / non-US-Licensed professional mariners and non-degreed (hawsepipe) licensed mariners will be considered should the nature or availability of the pool of applicants warrant. This is solely at the discretion of the Department of Marine Transportation

Classification: The Lecturer and Assistant Professor10 Months UUP positions.
