Duties And Responsibilities:
• Direct responsibility for the supervision of all Maintenance Department trades personnel, wherever assigned, and Vessel personnel assigned to the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance
Facility or at any location where Steamship Authority vessels may be under repair or overhaul.

• Shall direct all Maintenance Department and Vessel personnel assigned to the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility, Falmouth Maintenance Shop, Hyannis Maintenance Shop and
ensure that all work assignments are completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, while adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Authority’s Collective Bargaining Agreements.

• Responsible for assessing manpower requirements and planning, scheduling and prioritizing work assignments to ensure the Authority’s vessels, terminals and support facilities are
maintained in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

• Ensure maintenance personnel maintain all required licenses, certifications, and applicable training, including tracking renewals and coordinating continuing education as needed.

• Responsible for the oversight of payroll records and documentation for Maintenance Department personnel, including daily work reports, vacation and sick leave.

• Responsible for the maintenance, installation and repair of equipment operated by personnel in the shops.

• Shall be responsible for all stockroom and warehouse activities associated with the Falmouth Warehouse and Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility.

• Shall act as the onsite Safety Compliance Manager at the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility, managing all aspects of safety, including but not limited to personal protective
equipment (PPE) and job hazard analysis (JHA), and establishing a documented training program for all employees assigned to the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility and
maintenance staff assigned to all other SSA locations.

• Shall act as the onsite Environmental Compliance Manager at the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility, ensuring best management practices are performed as outlined in all SSA
Environmental programs and plans.

• Responsible for investigation of and preparation of reports on work-related injuries.

• Plan and coordinate with other department management personnel to identify and procure material and equipment necessary for all work assignments prior to each vessel’s annual
overhaul and repair period.

• Shall meet and review progress of Vessel Overhaul and Repair periods on a weekly basis with the Director of Marine Operations, Director of Engineering and Maintenance and other
department management personnel.

• Shall coordinate and work closely with Port Engineer, Facilities Engineer, TAG.

• Ambassador and role model for the SQMS with an engaging communication and influencing style able to work with all levels of the business to effect change and positive outcomes.

• Shall be available to manage the Fairhaven Vessel Maintenance Facility on weekends as required and respond to emergency calls at all times.

• Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Required Knowledge:

• Must possess a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, equivalent marine experience or shipyard management experience (USCG License preferred).

• Computer literate (MS-Word, Excel, Project and CMMS programs preferred).

• Knowledge in the repair and maintenance of main propulsion and auxiliary systems on vessels.

• Experience supervising various trades personnel in the repair and maintenance of ships.

• General understanding and familiarity with United States Coast Guard regulations for the repair and construction of commercial vessels.

• Familiarity with Subchapter H, I, and K USCG Regulations (preferred).

• Ability to interpret and comprehend engineering drawings.

• Ability to plan work assignments and evaluate manpower resources to develop production schedules for the overhaul and repair of the Authority’s vessels and support facilities.

The Office of the Commandant plays a vital role in the professional and personal development of the Regiment of Cadets, ensuring that graduates emerge as capable leaders in the merchant mariner service, maritime industry, military, and global business sectors.

Regimental Battalion Officers are the direct advisors and mentors to the cadet officers in their respective battalions. They oversee the training and provide the necessary support to these cadet officers, and the cadets assigned to their battalion. The Regimental Battalion Officer models appropriate character and strong ethics through disciplined behavior and professional appearance as a representative of SUNY Maritime College.

The job entails the daily shaping and leadership development of the future leaders of global industries including the Maritime transportation and key business sectors. As such, this position requires the individual to maintain the highest standards of conduct and appearance, as well as actively leading and managing the development and maturation of the Regimental Cadets.

This position requires the ability to consistently, unemotionally, and without any deference to a particular individual, apply the standards of behavior outlined in the Regimental policies and those of the broader College in a fair and consistent manner. Incumbent must be comfortable administering demerits, conducting counseling, and assigning extra duty or other such discipline actions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Commandant and Deputy Commandant of Cadets in executing regimental priorities and ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
• Serve as the primary leader, mentor, and supervisor for cadets within the assigned battalion, delivering consistent, values-based guidance that fosters professionalism, accountability, ethical decision-making, and organizational excellence in supporting cadet activities during the day and in a rotationally managed after-hours activities in support of SUNY Maritime College's mission

• Maritime College Rules and Regulations, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of standard. Also participate in Student Affairs Judicial proceedings representing regimental equities during these proceedings.
• Execute routine administrative functions including inspections, drafting and editing regulations and policies, contributions to the Plan of the Week, and development of organizational-level training plans.
• Precisely maintain and monitor key records such as demerit counts, extra duty logs, disciplinary outcomes, and Captain's Mast proceedings
• Maintain confidential performance and discipline files in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
• Support the residence life staff during non-traditional hours throughout the academic year (Fall/Winter/Spring).
• Prepare for and oversee the execution of the Cadet, Faculty, and Staff Random Drug
• Testing Program, ensuring full compliance with college and federal guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison between the Regiment and academic departments, student services, and professional development offices to holistically support cadet success within your battalion.
• Participate in the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of Indoctrination (INDOC) and Veteran Indoctrination (VDOC) Programs.
• Collaborate with the Cadet Indoctrination Officer (IDO) team within your battalion to design, implement, and assess leadership development training programs for Mariners Under Guidance (MUGs) during INDOC and throughout the academic year.

• Assist the Commandant in the preparation of the Regimental Preparatory Jump Start (J-START) program.
• Assist the Commandant to actively recruit prospective students for the Regiment of Cadets and the U.S. Coast Guard licensing program
• Represent the Regiment at Open Houses, campus visits, and Accepted Student Day, as well as other campus events by delivering compelling presentations highlighting the purpose, leadership, professional development, and career opportunities available through regimental life.
• Serve as a member of the Cadet Appointment Program (CAP) scholarship committee to screen and select students who will receive scholarship awards, and to help attract and retain top talent.
• Serve as a Regimental Affairs Officer during a half of the Summer Sea Term, supporting cadet training and operational execution in coordination with the Office of the Commandant and the Master of the Training Ship.
• Participate in both in-port and at-sea regimental duty rotations during Sea Term training, including pre- and post-cruise preparation.
• Supervise and enforce standards during Summer Sea Term by overseeing cadet behavior, conducting breathalyzer tests, managing liberty periods, and fulfill in other assigned duties.
• Support institutional compliance by participating in mandatory training activities, including Title IX-related initiatives.
• Obtain LENSE driving certification for campus vehicles and chaperone cadet groups during on- and off-campus special events, ensuring safety, discipline, and professionalism throughout all engagements.
• Additionally, duties could include teaching in the Leadership Development Continuum each semester (but no more than 6 credits)

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Battalion Officer is UUP position. The anticipated salary range is $67,000 - 72,000 and it is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes an outstanding benefits package in accordance with the contract between the State University of New York and United University Professionals. • The Regiment of Cadets operates within a structured, hierarchical organization designed to support leadership development and effective administration. It is composed of a Regimental Command and Staff, with three battalions forming the core of the cadet body each battalion further divided into two companies. During the Summer Sea Term, the regiment transitions to a shipboard organizational structure modeled after a merchant vessel, modified to meet training objectives. The ship is divided into deck and engine departments, each organized into three divisions to manage watch-standing, maintenance, and training functions. Additionally, administrative assistants and technical specialty Cadet Officers play a critical role by providing instruction and supporting the daily operations and training mission of the vessel.
• The Summer Sea Term is a 70 to 75-day training program aboard the College's training ship that includes 60 days at sea with visits to European and Mediterranean ports. It is a requirement for the incumbent to annually participate, unless expressly waived by the Master of the Training Ship and the Commandant of the Regiment due to some unusual circumstance.

Physical Demands

The employee must have correctable vision to 20/40, however contact lenses are not permitted in certain production area positions.

**SUMMER** Launch Driver

The Onset Bay Center seeks a motivated Launch Driver to assist in the delivery of on-the-water and outdoor recreation programs at the Onset Bay Center in Onset, MA. The Launch Driver will assist Bay Explorers, Sailing, and partner programs for Summer ‘26. The position reports to the Onset Bay Center Director.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate our Oldport 26 Launch boat, Bufflehead, transporting staff and participants to various locations around Onset Bay
- Function as a safety vessel, when needed, assisting in providing first aid and transportation to participants who need to leave their groups momentarily
- Understand and effectively communicate safe boating practices to staff and participants while operating the launch
- Practice safe docking and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and town harbormasters and employees on the pier
- Ensure a safe environment for all participants and equipment, on and off the water
- Work with OBC senior staff to maintain the program equipment.
- Coordinate and communicate with OBC senior staff & instructors as well as program partners regarding weather conditions, equipment needs, and logistics.

Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2026.
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and move boating equipment (with assistance)
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong communication & interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
- A CORI check will be required.
- Knowledge of Buzzards Bay, watershed ecology, and familiarity with local and regional environmental issues preferred
- USCG Limited Masters License (also known as USCG Launch Operators License) (paid training and course completion provided)
- Must meet the REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 120 days underway experience on like vessels (time acquired since age 16), 90 of those days in the last 3 years
- Physical, drug test, eye exam
- Certificate from an approved Safe Boating Course

**SUMMER** Launch Operator

**SUMMER** Sailing Instructor

- Implement daily lesson plans and course setting based on participants’ abilities and ages (beginner sailing) on our RS Quests, RS Zests, Hobie Getaway, and Drascombe Gig sailboats.
- Assist with participant arrival and pick up.
- Instruct participants in sailing, seamanship, and maritime skills.
- Lead by example, set the tone for positive youth development.
- Communicate effectively with co-instructors, junior instructors, and supervisors to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Create a safe, comfortable and friendly environment.
- Ensure a safe environment for all activities on and off the water.
- Manage and care for program equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:
Certifications to be completed prior to program (candidates will be reimbursed upon completion for necessary certifications)
- US Sailing Level 1
- Online Boating Safety Certificate
- Lifeguard OR Basic Water Rescue (Am. Red Cross)
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED for adults and children
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for outdoor activities, in various weather conditions.
- Age 18+, experience in sailing instruction, general education, or youth programming preferred.
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong oral communication & interpersonal skills.
CORI check required.

Compensation and Schedule:
This is a seasonal, full-time summer position. Detailed schedule will be discussed with OBC senior staff. Hourly wage is $17-$20/hr and is commensurate on experience and qualifications. No employee benefits are provided. Staff Training dates include weekend dates from June 6 - 21. A typical work week will be Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00 pm, with programs taking place June, 22 through August, 21. Weekend, evening and early morning programs may be scheduled.

The Procurement & Preconstruction Manager plays a central role in BHE’s early‑stage project lifecycle. This position manages bidding processes, subcontractor and vendor procurement, preconstruction workflows, and documentation to ensure projects are fully prepared for successful execution.

Procurement & Bidding

Develop, coordinate, and assemble bid packages for public and private sector projects.
Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate scopes of work.
Perform or assist with quantity takeoffs, material/labor/equipment breakdowns, and cost components.
Solicit, evaluate, and organize subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Maintain bid logs, pursuit pipelines, and tracking systems to ensure timely submissions.
Download, track, and organize all bid documents including plans, addenda, RFP/RFQs, and amendments.
Assist with preparation of cost estimates, proposals, bid forms, and supporting documentation.
Preconstruction Support & Coordination

Assist with project startup activities following award, including documentation and internal coordination.
Request, track, and verify subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and vendor contracts.
Maintain organized logs for contracts, amendments, bonds, insurance certificates, and correspondence.
Support development of project‑specific work plans and preliminary schedules.
Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure smooth transitions to operations teams.
Coordinate full project kickoff setup ensuring all contractual and administrative requirements are completed before mobilization.
Create and maintain digital project folders including contract documents, plans, submittals, procurement logs, and schedules.
Prepare internal kickoff packets, execution checklists, and project briefings.
Upload, issue, and track drawings, specifications, RFIs, addenda, and revisions.
Ensure field teams receive current plan sets, contract requirements, and administrative forms.
Review bid and client documents to determine all pre-award and preconstruction deliverables.
Assist with preparation of technical submittals, product data, and approval packages.
Track preconstruction deliverables to ensure full compliance before project start.
Support early procurement planning and material lead‑time reviews to prevent delays.

We are MMA Alumni owned and operated and are looking for motivated, dependable South Shore students to join our delivery and warehouse team this summer.
This is active, hands-on work. If you like staying busy, working outdoors, and earning strong summer money, this is a great opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Possible driving of delivery trucks. We will pay for your DOT medical card or physical if needed.
Riding with drivers to deliver furniture throughout Southeastern MA
Moving and setting up outdoor furniture at customers’ homes
Power washing floor models and display pieces
Loading and unloading trucks using team lifts and equipment provided
Light furniture assembly such as connecting table tops to bases
Picking and staging orders in the warehouse
Helping maintain showroom displays
Deliveries often receive customer tips, which can add meaningful extra income throughout the summer.
This is physical work and you will be moving most of the day.

Under the supervision of the Natural Resources Director or their designee, Seasonal Assistant Harbormasters promote safe and environmentally friendly usage of the Town’s waterways, respond to marine casualties and enforce applicable state and local laws. This is a part time seasonal position with varying shifts and schedules. Work is primarily performed outdoors on boats, docks and town ways to water.

Duties:
Provide on-the-water presence
Responds and assists in emergencies and operates in coordination with additional emergency responders as required
Assists in marine search and rescue assignments
Provide information and hospitality for mariners, residents and visitors
Assists in maritime based special events and or evacuations as directed
Patrol and monitor waterways, piers and boat ramps
Assists in providing appropriate actions to safeguard the harbor and anchorages in all aspects. Assists with ATONS, PTONS, and maintenance of safety buoys
Assist in general maintenance of town owned vessels, docks, aids to navigation and equipment
Operate vessel and shoreside waste pumpout facilities
Carry out special projects as assigned
