Essential Duties & Responsibilities for Assistant Mechanic

Assists with major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine diesel engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.

The Opportunity: 
Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA) is seeking motivated and diligent individuals for the Real Time Operator position at its 24-hour Control Center in Andover, Mass. The Real Time Operator is responsible for the real-time remote monitoring and operation of the EGPNA generation fleet, comprised of various technologies and locations. What You'll Do at Enel North America: 
Operating the EGPNA generation assets in a manner that meets or exceeds all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
Verifying the safe and effective operation of the EGPNA Power Plant portfolio, including ancillary and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment as assigned, through the detection of alarms, changes in parameters, outages, anomalies, and abnormal conditions, to maintain stable and efficient operations
Identify basic abnormal operations for undocumented situations by using basic critical thinking and react appropriately to maintain safe and effective operation.
Remotely operating the EGPNA Power Plant portfolio, including ancillary and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment as assigned, including hydroelectric, wind and solar portfolios, and optimize operations based on defined procedures to maximize generation while satisfying all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with regional transmission operators, and local operations and maintenance personnel to implement scheduled maintenance plans, and to restore generation following unexpected disruptions in normal operations
Reacting to directives and abnormal conditions immediately in accordance with EGPNA processes and Standard Operating Procedures, in order to guarantee safe and compliant operations
Recording data, log information and compile and distribute reports as required.
Acting proactively using core operator fundamentals by anticipating critical conditions, checking status based on all parameters available, identifying abnormal situations not necessarily captured by an alarm, etc.
Maintaining continuous coverage and responsibility while on-duty, remaining alert and attentive and ready and able to respond to any normal or emergency situation
Completing required internal and external training requirements, including any NERC required training and certifications, and ISO/RTO required training and certifications.


Who You Are:

Job Description:

The State University of New York Maritime College is currently looking to employ temporary personnel for different positions for the various departments during this year's summer training aboard T. S. EMPIRE STATE. The various available positions are Yeoman, Office Manager, Stewards and Regimental Duty Officers.

Due to the unique nature of the training ship, incumbents may be assigned in different capacities as the needs of the ship dictate and their background allow.

The Empire State is a public vessel of the United States, solely operated for the training and licensure of the cadet midshipmen. While onboard, the cadets are engaged in classroom lecture, maintenance and repair. Additionally, cadets are involved in watch keeping, drills, and training exercises all in preparation for their eventual licensure. There will be over 500 cadets onboard to account with approximately 20% in ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) and preparing for commissioning in the Armed Services following graduation and licensure.

The training days are geared to maximize the experience of the cadets and flexibility is a requirement regarding daily scheduling of duties.

Regimental Duty Officer

Description of Duties:

• Serves as a mentor and training officer for the cadets completing sea term activities
• Various administrative duties that support the cadets and ship's officers training components
• Assisting in the development and completion of port-call activities (if applicable)
• Serves on watch for alcohol testing and gangway watches
• Completes daily health and safety inspections of cadet berthing/common areas
• Supervises various cleaning details (AM/PM)
• Participates in daily musters and accountability evolutions
• Assistance in the completion of the daily "plan of the day" information
• Support of the Senior Regimental Officer Afloat and other Regimental Officers in the completion of their daily duties both afloat and in Port
• Assistance in the determination of random alcohol testing procedures/listings and testing
• Participation on the Ship's Safety Committee

Yeoman or Office Manager

A yeoman job is essentially an office or administrative position. Duties might include filling out or transcribing reports, organizing and sorting files, handling phone and in person communications, keeping up records and performing other administrative and office functions. A yeoman must demonstrate computer fluency, strong communication skills and attention to detail. Data entry skills are a huge plus.

Description of Duties:

The TS Empire State is looking for temporary personnel to provide class instruction, conduct various technical laboratories, to supervise cadets in maintenance and repair activities, and to stand engine room watches. It is possible the work assignments may change day to day throughout the Summer Sea Term appointment period.
