The Onset Bay Center seeks a responsible Rental Staff to facilitate on-the-water activity rentals for guests at the Onset Bay Center in Onset, MA. Rental Staff oversee all aspects of rentals for Summer ‘25. The position reports to the Onset Bay Center Director.

Compensation and Schedule:
This is a seasonal, part-time summer position, 20 hours/week, June-August. Detailed schedule discussed upon hire; includes daytime WEEKEND work (approx. 10am-6pm). Salary is commensurate on experience. No employee benefits provided.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Take bookings and assist customers in preparing equipment and launching.
- Educate participants about effective paddling practices and how to safely navigate around Onset Bay during their rental.
- Follow OBC rental procedures when communicating with guests.
- Handle payments and customer service for rental participants.
- Coordinate and communicate safe practices for rentals regarding weather conditions, equipment needs, and logistics.
- Ensure a safe environment for all participants and equipment, on and off the water.
- Work with OBC senior staff to maintain the program equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2025.Comfort with, and enthusiasm for, outdoor activities.
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to life 30 lbs and move boating equipment (with assistance)
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate high-quality judgement and decision making.
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong communication & interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, experience handling payments or using a booking software preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification (training provided).
- A CORI check will be required.
- Knowledge of Buzzards Bay, watershed ecology, and familiarity with local and regional environmental issues preferred.

**SUMMER** Senior Waterfront/Sailing Instructor

The Buzzards Bay Coalition seeks a Senior Waterfront Instructor to support the development and implementation of high quality on-the-water programming and vessel management at the Onset Bay Center. Working with the Onset Bay Center Director, the Senior Waterfront Instructor will be responsible for coordinating the OBC’s activity programs, including youth summer camps, afterschool programs, and adult and family classes.

Responsibilities include:
• Coordinating maintenance and storage of all waterfront and outdoor exploration equipment.
• Assisting with the design and implementation of on-the-water recreation and outdoor exploration programs that attract a wide range of people.
• Ensuring a safe environment for all outdoor, on-the-water and shore side activities.
• Assisting in the daily management of seasonal sailing staff. The full-time Senior Waterfront Instructor reports to the Onset Bay Center Manager and is based at the Coalition’s Onset Bay Center.

The ideal candidate will have:
• more than 3 years of on-the-water boating, nonprofit or recreation program experience.
• a proven track record of successfully creating and implementing on-the-water programs.
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with children and young adults.

Job Requirements:
• US Sail Level 1 Instructor (minimum).
• US Sail Level 2/3 (preferred).
• First Aid Cert.
• USCG Masters/Launch License (preferred).
• Lifeguard (preferred).
• Kayaking, Windsurfing, Canoeing, Fishing, Rowing and/or Paddle Boarding experience a benefit.
• 3yrs experience teaching sailing.
• 1yr leading a waterfront team.

**SUMMER 2025** Sailing Instructor

Want to spend your summer instructing sailing and exploring beautiful Onset Bay? Join our waterfront team at the Onset Bay Center!

Onset Bay Center seeks an energetic and responsible Sailing Instructor to lead sailing camp programs for youth ages 8-15, as well as adult and family programs on day, evenings, and weekends for Summer ‘25! Sailing Instructors receive training and will work as a team under the guidance of the Waterfront Manager and Onset Bay Center Director, using both keelboat and dinghy sailing equipment.

Fill your days with FUN:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implement daily lesson plans and course setting based on participants’ abilities and ages (beginner sailing) on our RS Quests, RS Zests, and Drascombe GIg sailboats.
- Assist with participant arrival and pick up.
- Instruct participants in sailing, seamanship, and maritime skills.
- Lead by example, set the tone for positive youth development.
- Communicate effectively with co-instructors and junior instructors to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Create a safe, comfortable and friendly environment.
- Ensure a safe environment for all activities on and off the water.
- Manage and care for program equipment and supplies.

Qualifications:
- US Sailing Level 1 Certification preferred. OBC will reimburse candidates who complete their Level 1 certification for this position.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates prior to program start.
- Comfort with and enthusiasm for outdoor activities, in various weather conditions.
- Experience in sailing instruction, general education, or youth programming preferred.
- Strong communications skills including comfort with learners of all ages and strong oral communication & interpersonal skills.
- CORI check required.

Compensation & Schedule:
This is a seasonal, full-time summer position. Detailed schedule will be discussed with OBC senior staff. Salary is commensurate on experience.
No employee benefits are provided. Staff Training run from June 16 - 20. A typical work week will be Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 4:30 pm, with programs taking place June, 23 through August, 22. Weekend, evening and early morning programs may be scheduled.

**SUMMER 2025** Launch Driver

The Onset Bay Center seeks a motivated Launch Driver to assist in the delivery of on-the-water and outdoor recreation programs at the Onset Bay Center in Onset, MA. The Launch Driver operates Onset Bay Center's private launch boat for programs and assists our Bay Explorers, Sailing, and partner programs for Summer ‘25. The position reports to the Onset Bay Center Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive our Bufflehead launch boat to transport staff and participants to various locations around Onset Bay,
- Function as a safety vessel, when needed, assisting in providing first aid and transportation to participants who need to leave their groups for a time
- Understand and effectively communicate safe boating practices to staff and participants while operating the launch.
- Practice safe docking and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and town harbormaster and employees on the pier
- Ensure a safe environment for all participants and equipment, on and off the water.
- Work with OBC senior staff to maintain the program equipment and supplies
-Coordinate and communicate with OBC senior staff & instructors as well as program partners regarding weather conditions, equipment needs, and logistics.

This is a seasonal, part-time summer position. Detailed schedule will be discussed with OBC senior staff, 20 hour/week. Hourly wage is commensurate on experience. No employee benefits are provided.

BBC will pay for required USCG Limited Masters License (also known as USCG Launch Operators License) as well as CPR/First Aid, and application costs for those who already have the REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Age 18 for inspected launches
120 days underway experience on like vessels (time acquired since age 16)
90 of those days in the last 3 years
Physical, drug test, eye exam
CPR/First Aid class completion
Certificate from an approved Safe Boating Course
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card)

BBC Requirements:
A CORI check
CPR / First Aid course
