• Able Seafarer – Deck: The employee is an unlicensed deck person. Duties are assigned, and jobs are scheduled and assigned through consultation with the Chief Mate or his or her designee. Employee must possess a valid MERCHANT MARINER CREDENTIAL (MMC) with a minimum STCW Capacity of ABLE SEAFARER – DECK (Unrestricted). Employee must possess current USCG STCW certification for proficiency in Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW), survival craft, Basic Safety Training, and Firefighting. Employee must be familiar with and have experience with Safety Management Systems as used aboard ship. Leadership qualities and a working knowledge of deck machinery, helmsmanship, mooring operations and lifesaving equipment are required
• Watch Officer – Deck: The sea-term deck officer may be tasked as officer of the watch, may assists in the oversight of shipboard maintenance, and /or may provide cadet training on the training bridge during the annual sea-term. As a junior officer in the Deck Department, reports to the Chief Mate as Deck Department head. At a minimum, must possess all USCG Certificates and Licenses, and all STCW endorsements required of a Third Mate/ OICNW. Must possess a valid passport.
• Watch Officer – Engine: The Watch Engineer may act, as assigned by the 1st Assistant Engineer, as Engineering Officer of the Watch in either the primary or secondary engine room, may be assigned to assist in the oversight of shipboard maintenance, and /or may be tasked to provide Cadet training while on sea-term. As a junior officer in the Engine Department, reports to the First Assistant Engineer (1AE). At a minimum, must possess all USCG Certificates and Licenses, and all STCW endorsements required of a Third Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horsepower - Motor. Must possess a valid passport
• Ship’s Senior Medical Officer: The ship’s Senior Medical Officer is responsible for the basic, emergency and primary care medical treatment of the crew, staff and students while underway onboard the Training Ship State of Maine (TSSOM). The Senior Medical Officer directly supervises the ship’s nurse(s), Medics and Emergency Medical Technicians as assigned.

The Specialist performs routine inspections, responds to EHS type events, and helps each assigned site with administrative environmental and safety systems, reports, and submissions.

What You'll Do...

Training and Meetings:
Implement safety and environmental training programs for facilities. Arrange, coordinate and perform training, including new employee (on-boarding) orientation and on-going training programs. Aid the Environmental and Safety Managers with evaluation of training methods and presentations used by facilities.
Establish, assist, and participate in EHS meetings, incident review calls, operations calls, site Safety Committee and other meetings as assigned.
Completes on-boarding training programs within the time frame prescribed, and requests support from corporate EHS staff when necessary.
Assist the site team(s) with completing Observations and help the local management team assess performance.
Aid site, safety, and environmental leadership in coaching employees based on performance and needs.
Attend and participate in facility meetings to evaluate the team's commitment, function, and effectiveness. Provide input on environmental compliance and safety related matters, continuous improvement projects, share best practices; keep abreast of current facility issues.
Periodically meet with Plant Manager/General Manager and/or Operations Manager to discuss open environmental compliance and safety issues, requests for information, regulatory interpretations, change management, etc.
Participate in school programs, tours, and other public presentations as appropriate.
Support and Travel to 5-7 locations within the local geographic footprint.

Inspection, Monitoring, and Reporting:
Develops, implements, and maintains monitoring programs for solid waste generation and water discharges to meet the requirements of federal and state regulations, laws and regulations, and corporate environmental, health and safety policies.
Implements, follows and assists in enforcement of company policies and procedures to assure an environmentally compliant, safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Establishes and maintains routine site visit calendar and communicates to facility operations teams to maximize effectiveness of site visits.
Monitors and completes EHS inspections for each assigned facility for compliance with all federal, state, county and local operating permits. Prepares and submits reports to Operations and EHS on findings and recommended actions.
Provide on-site stack test observation and stack test support
Assist with Air program compliance reporting

Incident Response:
Act as, respond to, or assist as an Emergency Coordinator for the facility in the event of a significant environmental or safety event.
Serve as the main point of contact for communication, documentation and reporting to environmental and safety regulatory agencies as assigned.
Assist the Safety, Environmental, and Operations team with initial reporting for each environmental compliance or safety incident. Aid the Operations, Safety, and Environmental team with root cause analysis, gathering evidence, aid with any required reporting, interviewing employees, and ensuring all actions take place in the required time frame.

Administrative and Site Support:
Provides operations team support with maintaining compliance with FMCSA regulated Driver and Vehicle files.
Assist Operations with planning, execution, and evaluation of emergency drills.
Maintains accurate filing system for environmental compliance and safety records.
Be the primary point of contact and provide administration for safety and environmental computer systems such as Lytx, Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM), SharePoint, PI, Velocity and TagLink.
Support other projects as directed such as PMO (Project Management Office), VPP Preparation (OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program), Clean Sweeps, etc. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback to plant management
Performs outage scaffold inspections as needed

A. Ensure maintenance is performed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, codes and

manufacturers’ requirements and recommendations

B. Ensure companies and individuals performing maintenance or repairs on the boilers, engines, and

their appurtenances hold the proper qualifications and certifications to perform such work

C. Ensure maintenance and repairs are properly documented in accordance with applicable laws,

regulations, codes and manufacturers’ requirements

3. Inspections

A. Ensure the boilers and their appurtenances are thoroughly inspected internally and externally at

least once a year by an Authorized Insurance Inspector, or a State District Engineering Inspector

B. Ensure that all accessible spaces in the boiler are opened and cleaned and the boiler is ready for the

inspector

C. Ensure the inspector has been provided with complete records for the boiler, including history of the

boiler operations, maintenance and repairs

D. Ensure the current boiler certificate of inspection is posted in accordance with the law

4. Repairs and Alterations

A. Ensure repairs and alterations are done in accordance with the law, regulations, codes and

manufacturer specifications

B. Ensure personnel performing repairs are properly qualified and certified to perform such repairs

C. Ensure hydrostatic testing and pressure testing is performed in accordance with applicable laws,

regulations, and codes, and any requirements of the authorized inspector

D. Ensure all areas around a failed part, or susceptible to the same failure mechanism, have been

inspected.

E. Ensure that reports of repairs and/or alterations are submitted to the Department as required by law

The Operations Integrity Manager is responsible for developing and managing policies and procedures that promote a culture of operational excellence across Sprague’s Terminals, Fleet, Service, and Delivery Operations. Operational Excellence & Policy Management

Reporting to the Director of Technical, you will be involved in the day to day operation of the vessels as well as planned dry-docks and repair periods. The ideal candidate will have the following:

BS Marine Engineering, Maritime Academy preferred

Previous shoreside port engineer/technical superintendent experience preferred, experience with tankers a must
Must have previous experience and be comfortable managing vessel drydocks and shipyard periods, both domestic and international yards

Familiar with Class and USCG regulations, experience with foreign flagged vessels is a plus
Comfortable with Microsoft and ABS NS5 software
