We are looking to hire a part time charter captain for $30-$45/hr and that is before cash tips (10-25% of charter price). The captain will be go through paid trained for everything about running the vessel and running a charter before taking clients out. Licenses needed at a minimum an MMC endorsed as an OUPV with an inland endorsement or ideally a near costal endorsement. Fishing knowledge of long island sound is a plus but there can be a mate to assist the captain with all fishing needs of the clients if needed so the captain can be focused soley on operating the vessel. We are also willing to pay for the right candidates schooling to obtain their OUPV license. This is a family oriented charter.

Position Description

Under minimum supervision, you will operate, maintain, and repair any heat generation equipment, facilities, and auxiliary and related equipment within the BNL Central Steam Facility. You may also be required to assign, direct, or check the work of others. personnel in connection with assigned responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate equipment in a safe and conscientious manner following safety rules, procedures, and actively participating in safety programs, such as confined space, lock-out/tag-out, etc.
Maintain records and logbooks, of rounds and inspections performed.
Operate, monitor, and secure boilers and balance of plant equipment. Recognize abnormal conditions and take corrective action.
Perform routine and demand maintenance and repairs as necessary to keep the plant operating at optimal efficiency.
Perform daily chemical test analysis of all operating systems such as boilers, water softeners, feedwater, and condensate systems.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual planned maintenance on boilers and auxiliary equipment as assigned.
Assist in maintaining a high level of housekeeping, inventory, and maintenance of tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires a minimum of 7-years prior experience as an operator/watch stander in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam plants and plant controls.
In lieu of above a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering or similar technical degree; or completion of US Navy, multi-year union, or similar technically accredited program leading to a recognized certificate or license for the operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam plants and plant control systems.

• Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Resolve unexpected events related to your assigned task in a professional manner. Work Tasks Include:
• Prepare a safe work area especially as it relates to fire prevention.
• Assist in coordinating work with other crafts to disconnect and remove equipment.
• Compile as-found reports identifying the status of equipment prior to work.
• Assist with in-place valve repairs.
