**SUMMER** Seasonal Waterways Enforcement Officer

Assists in patrolling town waters and to ensure the safety of vessels and persons using town waters and facilities; assists the Harbormaster Division with enforcement of small vessel storage rules and regulation; may assist with GIS of all permitted moorings and maintenance and placement of all aids to navigation; all other related work as required. High school diploma with two years experience in a related maritime field or graduate of vocational school marine science program, at least two years of boat handling experience with power boats in all weather conditions, use of databases and GIS mapping equipment; knowledge of rescue operations, knowledge of maritime laws, regulations and practices, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. CPR/AED required. Boating Safety certificate or equivalent desirable. Class D drivers license. Thorough knowledge of all harbor and waterway regulations and proper procedures. Thorough knowledge of mooring tackle, setups, rigging and maintenance. General knowledge of Massachusetts Boating laws and United States Coast Guard regulations and procedures. Knowledge of general maintenance and mechanical repair work. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in boat handling, docking, launching and recovery. Ability to work tactfully with the public. Ability to tow trailers with boats behind Town vehicles. Ability to operate power and hand tools. Ability to perform strenuous physical duties under adverse weather conditions. Ability to swim. Proficiency in boat handling and operation. Good motor and coordination skills. Good communications and computer skills.
