Deck Hand on Classic Yawl for private family in Hyannis Port, MA.
over the years our family has hired several Mass Maritime cadets and graduates to work as deck hands. The work encompasses all aspects of sailing, including preparation, sail-handling, cleaning, mooring and putting the boat away. The work will entail mostly day-sails on Nantucket Sound aboard the Glide, a 50’ LOD wooden yawl built in 1947. You will be expected to work about 35 hours per week usually starting around 11am until 5pm or so, on weekends, with days off to be arranged in advance depending on schedules. Occasionally we will sail in the evening and there will be a few overnight trips to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Frankly there are few things better in the world than sailing a wooden boat in Nantucket Sound in the summer. You are preparing now for a life in the maritime industry. Most of the women and men who have crewed aboard the Glide look back on it as one of the greatest summers of their life. If you are interested please send your resume and a short note about why you would be good at this. The pay is $22.00/Hour for weeks of 35-40 hours.
