Construction Manager - Power & Industrial

Waldron is seeking a Senior Construction Coordinator / Construction Manager with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction or power industry. Primary job duties are to execute multiple small projects and lead the company estimating efforts to support Waldron’s projects and business development. The successful candidate will primarily be assigned to Waldron’s home office in Exeter, NH. Some travel to remote construction sites with overnight stays will be required. Experience working as a project engineer, superintendent, plant management, project manager, or construction manager is required. Industrial construction estimating experience is a plus. This is a great opportunity for marine and facilities engineers, MSEP, and energy systems engineers; however any combination of experience, training, education, and ultimately being a solution and detail oriented individual would qualify.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate total construction effort for one medium to large project or several small projects to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, engineers, subcontractors, etc.
• Perform technical problem solving for complex construction projects.
• Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
• Monitor subcontractors and review submittals to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, and testing meet the requirements of plans, specifications, contracts, and schedule.
• Coordinate, monitor, and oversee material and equipment, receiving, documentation and storage.
• Assist with or perform contracting with owners, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Proactively oversee all facets of project change management.
• Assist with or perform project accounting, cost tracking, and project cost forecasting.
• Prepare complete estimates for assigned projects directly or through subordinate personnel.
• Perform estimating in support of business development efforts.
• Assist with or perform development of complete bid packages for subcontractors.
• Perform proposal evaluations and make selection recommendations for subcontracts and vendors.
• Assist in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
• Assist with implementation, administration, and interpretation of safety programs.
• Seek, and be able to communicate, understanding of federal, state, and local regulations as applicable to projects.
• Understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
• Provide supervision and technical support to all subordinates.
• Develop, maintain, and publish construction schedules for active projects and to support business development activities.
• Assist with or perform hiring and personnel management.
• Ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Maintain high professional and construction ethics.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform assignments per supervisor’s direction with minimal supervision.
• Continually look for opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
• Update and maintain historical data for estimating and subcontractor contacts.
• Maintains necessary licensing/training requirements.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:

• BS in Engineering discipline or Construction Management or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Prompt and accurate judgement.
• Solution oriented.
• Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, etc.
• Estimating knowledge and experience.
• Excellent communication, organization, supervisory, interpersonal, and planning skills.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures.
• Proficiency with Windows-based personal computers and Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency in use of job applicable software.
• Ability acquire and maintain a MA construction supervisor’s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Position will require occasional travel to remote jobs sites—some requiring overnight stays.
• Projects are typically industrial in nature and may require work inside power plants, food processing areas, manufacturing areas, etc.
• Some lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Some climbing, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
