Seasonal Lifeguard

Starting pay $20.00 per hour. Required certifications are reimbursed. Lifeguards are responsible for patrolling the beach and swimming area. Set up lifeguard and beach equipment while supervising junior lifeguards and guests. Provide rescue to swimmers in trouble and where necessary apply first aid. Participate in required paid training and workouts throughout the season.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: a minimum of one year’s experience in oceanfront beach guarding. Current Lifeguarding Certificate (Including Deepwater) with CPR/AED for professional rescuers, first aid, and waterfront skills or equivalent certification. Experience working with youths is helpful.

Work of this class is active. Incumbent performs daily responsibilities by walking and standing for substantial periods of time. Incumbent is expected to maintain a good physical condition. Incumbent is exposed to varying weather conditions and is expected to be able to lift heavy objects (circa 40 lbs.) Applicants must pass a CORI and SORI background check

**SUMMER** Sailing Instructor

Yarmouth Sailing is looking for a part-time seasonal sailing instructor who is energetic and willing to share their knowledge of sailing.

Sailing instructors implement daily lessons of knockabouts. Always assure safety on vessels, while adhering to local, state, and federal laws. Sailing instructors assist all their sailors to develop their skills and have fun.

Requirements:

Experience working with youth is preferred
Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/SORI background check.
Previous sailing experience (2+ years) is strongly desired.
CPR and First Aid Certifications (free training provided)
USSA Level 1 Sailing Instructor Certificate or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort required for work performed in the field. Required to spend several hours standing, walking, reaching arms, and light lifting under 50 lbs.

Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic

Paramedic / EMT / Firefighter Positions

All Paramedic and EMT positions are also Firefighter positions. Massachusetts State Firefighter I/II training is preferred, but not required to apply. Applicants must be certified as a Paramedic or EMT at the time of application.

Fire Alarm Operator Positions

Fire Alarm Operators must possess both a Basic Tele-Communicator Certificate and an Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certificate.

Minimum Qualifications – Firefighter/Paramedic

Applicants must meet the basic qualifications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic as established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including:

Be at least 19 years of age at the time of application

Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license at the time of application

Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Hold current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic at the time of application

Be free of felony convictions

Successfully pass the Massachusetts Firefighter Physical Ability Test

Successfully pass a fitness and medical examination

Yarmouth Police Department Application

You are NOT eligible for employment with the Yarmouth Police Department if you have been convicted of a felony or if you have been dishonorably discharged from any military service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

You must also meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for a position with the Yarmouth Department.

Age: Twenty-one (21) years of age at time of submission of the application

Education: You must be a high school graduate or possess a GED AND have a minimum of 60 College Credits or

Currently Serving Active Duty U.S. Armed Forces or

Honorable Discharge From U.S. Military Service Minimum 1 year of Duty or Full Time Police Academy Trained with 1 Year of Full Time job experience. Police Academy must be MPTC or equivalent.

License: Applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, applicants are required to obtain a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry Firearms.

Residency: Candidates must be U.S. citizens.

Drug Testing: Candidates shall be required to submit to a drug test as part of the pre-employment medical examination.
