Job Description:

SUNY Maritime College is looking to hire either a licensed Doctor or PA for the entire training period, or for each half (Cruise A or Cruise B) indicated below.

EMPIRE STATE is a public vessel of the United States, solely operated for the training and licensure of the cadet midshipmen. While onboard the cadets are engaged in classroom lecture, maintenance and repair, watch keeping, and drills and training exercises all in preparation for their eventual licensure. Of the 525 cadets onboard, there will be approximately 20% that are also in ROTC, and preparing for commissioning in the Armed Services following graduation and licensure.

The training days are geared to maximize the experience of the cadets and flexibility is a requirement regarding daily scheduling of duties.

The Full Cruise appointment is anticipated to begin April 30, 2026 and ends July 20, 2026. However, you may apply and be considered for one of the following.

Description of Duties:

• Medical staff onboard perform the vital duties expected of the Medical Department onboard any Merchant or Navy ship
• Attending to sick call twice daily (in port and underway)
• Provide instruction in Medical Care Provider and CPR/AED
• Daily supervision of Ship's Medical and cadet corpsmen
• Daily sanitary inspections of berthing, common areas, and food service areas with the Ship's Master - both underway and while in Port
• Attendance with any incidents or injuries
• Participation on the Ship's Safety Committee

• Possess and maintain a valid license and certification to practice as a Medical Doctor or Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse
• Must possess and maintain a valid DEA number and certificate to transmit specific controlled substances

• Coast Guard certification (Certificate of Registry) as a Medical Officer with the help of the college

**SUMMER** Launch Driver

Nantucket Launch Co. operates two U.S. Coast Guard–inspected passenger vessels providing safe, reliable launch service between private moorings and the Nantucket waterfront. The launch driver is a seasonal full-time position from June 1 to September 15th. Extremely competitive pay, including tips, and the possibility of subsidized housing for the right candidate. The Auditor, Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental supports the efforts of the Safety, Security, Environment, and Health departments to ensure Corporate and shipboard compliance with applicable International and Flag State regulatory requirements, voluntary standards and company policies.

This involves providing audit services to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and its subsidiaries and brands, its ships, offices, and other facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts both shipboard and shore side audits of RCG SQM.
Safety, Quality, and Environmental programs within the prescribed time frame.
Verifies the effective implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental (SQM) system which includes the requirements of SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea Convention); STCW (Standards of Certification, Training and Watch keeping); MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships); ISMCode (International Safety Management Code); various IMO regulations, the instruments of ILO(International Labor Convention); ISO 14001 (Environmental Standards); ISO 9001(Quality Standards);and ISPS (International Ship and Port Security Code).
The auditor is also responsible for verifying compliance with appropriate Flag and Port State regulations. Follows up on previous nonconformity’s (from prior audits) to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed and/or implemented corrective actions Assists the Lead / Senior Auditor in coordinating team activities for presentation of audit results to the shipboard executive committee or shore side management / executives. This includes documenting detailed findings (e.g. noteworthy efforts, nonconformities, observations, verification statements).
Provides training to shipboard and shore side staff with regard to topics such as Accident Incident
Tracking Systems, SQM (Safety & Quality Management System), Corrective / Preventative Actions, Root Cause Analysis and Management Systems elements.
Maintains open communications with colleagues (shipboard and shore side) and works to improve understanding as to the intent of the audit findings or to clarify the finding. Communicate critical issues to the Lead / Senior Auditor as well as shipboard or shore side management.
Continually improves audit protocols, the audit program, and the corporate management system tools. Responsible for coordinating travel arrangements and creating expense reports associated with this position. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

Bachelor's degree from 4-year college/university Minimum of three years of audit experience in the maritime industry, e.g., cruise ships, or cargo ships.
Degree from a Maritime Institution, Marine Technical License or related certification preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Management Systems and standards including ISO 9001/1400 and 50,001.
Position requires detailed knowledge of the requirements and implementation of international regulations including ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, MLC and ILO as well as those from applicable Flag and Port States.
Knowledge/ experience in safety, quality and environment auditing techniques.

• Participate in both in-port and at-sea regimental duty rotations during Sea Term training, including pre- and post-cruise preparation.
• Supervise and enforce standards during Summer Sea Term by overseeing cadet behavior, conducting breathalyzer tests, managing liberty periods, and fulfill in other assigned duties.
• Support institutional compliance by participating in mandatory training activities, including Title IX-related initiatives.
• Obtain LENSE driving certification for campus vehicles and chaperone cadet groups during on- and off-campus special events, ensuring safety, discipline, and professionalism throughout all engagements.

• The Regiment of Cadets operates within a structured, hierarchical organization designed to support leadership development and effective administration. During the Summer Sea Term, the regiment transitions to a shipboard organizational structure modeled after a merchant vessel, modified to meet training objectives. The ship is divided into deck and engine departments, each organized into three divisions to manage watch-standing, maintenance, and training functions. Additionally, administrative assistants and technical specialty Cadet Officers play a critical role by providing instruction and supporting the daily operations and training mission of the vessel.
• The Summer Sea Term is a 70 to 75-day training program aboard the College's training ship that includes 60 days at sea with visits to European and Mediterranean ports. Key responsibilities
• Develop and implement safety programs:
o Create and manage health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
o Assist SQE Director compiling data for the safety team meetings

o Analyze accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
o Assist with the Close-out of non-conformities and other audit findings.
• Maintain Safety Department records
o Keep accurate and organized records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
o Monitor and track safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
o Support onboarding and orientation for new office personnel on SMS and Keystone Quality System
• Promote safety culture: Collaborate with management and employees to foster a strong safety culture and provide guidance on safety-related matters.
• Ensure regulatory compliance: Stay up-to-date on safety regulations and ensure the company adheres to all legal requirements.
• Assists as directed in the Operations Department

Requirements and Desired Qualifications
• US Citizenship
• Degree from a Maritime Academy
• Having or ability to obtain a TWIC

SUMMARY
The Professional Development Program is an 18-month department rotation program. The program consists of rotations through Production, Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, Safety, Programs, and other departments. Production Associates will be required to complete job assignments in each department, as well as complete other projects specific to the program. At the conclusion of the program, the Production Associate will be assigned to a permanent position within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Develop comprehensive knowledge of shipbuilding and/or repair processes.
Develop managerial and leadership skills.
Complete all rotation projects/assignments in a timely and organized fashion.
Support company goals related to safety, quality, cost and schedule performance.
Be an active participant in NASSCO's continuous improvement culture.
Complete internal and external training requirements
Complete performance evaluations at the end of each rotation.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or maritime-related subject matter
Basic understanding of maritime industry operations is desired but not required
Basic understanding of world-class manufacturing techniques
This position requires the ability to plan work and manage time effectively, to use effective interpersonal skills, to resolve conflicts, and to lead and motivate others

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this role require work in both an office and industrial setting. The role requires prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. The role requires perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone. The role also requires prolonged periods of working in indoor and outdoor industrial settings. Must have the ability to safely access, navigate, and traverse the shipyard, construction areas, production areas, ships, and warehouses. Must be able to transit uneven surfaces, and be agile to move quickly to avoid hazards and respond to unexpected obstacles. Must be able to observe, detect, identify, perceive, recognize, and process information to remain alert and timely comply with all safety requirements. Must be able to move, transport, and use equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. Duties performed on ships require ascending and descending stairs and ladders, transiting on scaffolding and at heights, transiting through manholes and other narrow, confined, or congested spaces. This position requires exposure to industrial areas which contain hazardous materials, loud noise (including sirens, horns, chipping, slamming, and hammering), dust, fumes, and exposure to weather.

Payscale: $70,800 - $92,100

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education. Solid Waste Project Manager

The Solid Waste Project Manager will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge and complex solid waste projects in addition to supporting civil site design, permitting, and operational programs associated with these projects. This is a management and consulting position requiring technical knowledge, and excellent writing, planning, and communication skills.

Core Responsibilities
• Prepare/assist with preparation of various technical project reports and permit applications, such as Operations and Maintenance Plans, Waste Ban Compliance Plans, Closure Plans, MassDEP permit modification and Site Suitability applications, MEPA filings (ENF, EIR, NPC), License Applications, etc.
• Conduct solid waste facility inspections and reporting.
• Provide peer, technical, and QA/QC review on project deliverables.
• Assist clients with facility design and modifications, permitting, compliance, and liaison with regulatory authorities (federal, state, local).
• Construction management and oversight.
• Manage multiple projects including overseeing and delegating to support staff, managing scope, schedule, and budget, managing project sub-contractors, project invoicing, and client communication.

Essential Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work and the following qualifications:
• BA/BS required in Environmental, Engineering, Geology, or similar scientific field.
• MassDEP Third-party Inspector. Asbestos Inspector licensure a plus.
• Experience with solid waste projects that includes design, permitting, inspection, and construction.
• At least 8+ years of experience with solid waste design and permitting, including directly related task/project management experience.
• Strong technical knowledge combined with project management skills.

Solid Waste Inspector

The Solid Waste Inspector will have the opportunity to work with dozens of clients and at various transfer station, landfill, processing, composting, and recycling facilities throughout Massachusetts. The inspector will also have the opportunity to support the permitting and operational programs associated with these facilities. This position will be 25%-50% in the field, and 50%-75% reporting/office-type work.
