The Orleans Police Department is accepting applications for the positions of Community Service Officer and Parking Enforcement Officer for the 2025 summer season. Minimum qualifications include: 18 years of age, valid Massachusetts driver's license, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Successful applicants must be able to obtain a certification in CPR prior to employment.
Community Service Officer:
Patrol the town of Orleans on a mountain bike or e-bike and assist the public by answering general questions about the area, give directions, etc. Respond to minor calls for service such as assisting patrol officers with directing traffic around motor vehicle crashes, close roads during special events such as the July 4th Parade and fireworks, conduct property checks, etc.
Parking Enforcement Officer:
The Parking Enforcement Officer is assigned an unmarked patrol vehicle and patrols town landings and other enforceable parking areas checking for violations and possibly issuing parking citations.
Both positions in the past have acted as a foot in the door to law enforcement and have lead to full time careers as Police Officers or Police Dispatchers for multiple current Orleans Police Department employees. If you have an interest in helping the community and/ or pursuing a career in law enforcement, either of these positions are a step in the right direction. MMA cadets in the past have been able to obtain internship credits through these positions as well. Come enjoy summer on Cape Cod and work for the Orleans Police Department!
