Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure vessels are operated in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with Class and Statutory and Company regulations while protecting asset value.
Provide day-to-day day technical support and guidance to assigned vessels. Monitor vessel performance and ensure follow-up action.
Management of vessel Repair and maintenance budgets and operating expenditures in coordination with the relevant Marine Superintendents and Operations teams
Responsible for the overall management of repair and maintenance for assigned vessels, including routine voyage repairs, regulatory surveys, dry docking shipyard events, emergencies, casualties, and modifications.
Promotes a professional relationship with the officers and crew. Set clear goals and expectations and coach and develop Chief Engineers in line with Competence and Performance Management objectives. Participate in interviews and make recommendations regarding new hires and promotions.
Act as the primary contact for technical coordination for assigned vessels
Carry out regular vessel visits to confirm condition and compliance with Operating Standards and provide Vessel Condition reports.
Monitor and ensure maintenance software (NS) is utilized properly, verifying repairs and maintenance are properly reported and standard jobs are followed.
Remain abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable flag state and class standards, international regulations, and audit results.
Focal point for port states, Class, terminals, USCG, etc. Assist and participate in Incident investigations.
Manage technical files, including service reports, machinery history, and regulatory-required documentation

Job Summary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in building and security management with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity and 2 years in multi-site operations.
Demonstrated ability in implementing and oversee the use of electronic facility management systems to optimize operational and maintenance functions.

Act as AML’s primary point of contact for Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment (SASH) matters, ensuring compliance with EMBARC standards.

This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring vessel reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of a fleet of ATBs, tugs, and barges, ensuring operational reliability and safety
• Manage and improve preventative maintenance programs
• Coordinate shipyard periods, drydockings, and major overhauls, including sourcing, bidding, budgeting, and scheduling
• Manage parts inventory and procurement, including vendor relationships and contract negotiations
• Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, and other regulatory and classification society standards
• Collaborate with port engineers, vessel captains, and vessel engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Maintain accurate records of vessel maintenance, inspections, and certifications
• Lead and mentor technical staff, including port engineers
• Support capital project planning and execution, including new builds, vessel modifications, and equipment upgrades
• Participate in office operational and safety meetings

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in vessel engineering, maintenance, or technical management, preferably with tugs or ATBs
• Experience administering repair contracts and overseeing shipyard repair periods
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and vessel maintenance software systems
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, including climbing ladders, entering tanks, and moving safely around shipyard environments
• Strong understanding of marine systems, diesel propulsion, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Familiarity with USCG, ABS, and Subchapter M regulations
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Experience with project management preferred
• Valid TWIC card, driver’s license, and U.S. passport
• Willingness to travel up to 20%

POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the leadership and EHS team in planning, implementing, and enforcing the organization's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures. The EHS Specialist will act as an advisor, coach and mentor to the site leadership team and employees. The role will focus on providing education and training to increase understanding, engagement and quality of EHS deliverables and continuous improvement. The role is responsible for incident management and investigation, EHS audits and inspection, and will drive consistent EHS related communications through site leadership and supervisor engagement. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with implementation and understanding of EHS Standard requirements, local regulations, site procedures, and initiatives as directed.
Manage and analyze EHS related data to ensure consistent record keeping of events and incidents, to learn from trend analysis.
Investigate significant EHS non-conformances or incidents, and identify and communicate corrective actions.
Support the development of corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities.
Participate in applicable internal and external audits and take appropriate corrective actions.
Facilitate EHS training.
Ensure the maintenance of employee EHS files.
Provide EHS information to customers and vendors as requested.
Participate whenever possible in EHS meetings and engage with personnel, providing feedback to supervision on EHS related communications and opportunities to improve.
Support the management of workers’ compensation, injury management, and return-to-work and rehabilitation policy and processes, where required.
Support training and performance-management initiatives by trialing content with end users and providing feedback to leadership.
Demonstrate personal responsibility for all EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Min. of 5-7 years’ experience in warehouse/manufacturing/industrial environment, having site-wide responsibility for environmental safety and health issues, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience implementing workplace environmental health and safety regulations and standards and working with authorities involved in workplace environmental health and safety oversight.
Supervisory and training experience relating to job performance and safety on the job preferred.
May include technical and/or professional certifications.
Experience in metal or electronics recycling, or related industry, preferred.
Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHS data management systems.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively with a broad range of individuals at multiple levels.
Ability to manage change and adapt to ensure continual success.
Self-starter with a high level of resilience and ability to work independently with limited direction.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational, analytical, and time-management skills

Knowledge specific to environmental programs including but not limited to Stormwater, SPCC, wastewater, air permitting and hazardous waste.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
