Navy Segment Sales Representative – Norfolk

Summary: The Outside Salesperson will oversee continued development and expansion of sales in the Norfolk / Hampton Roads area representing product lines. The position will require the ability to visit customer’s place of business, shipyards or vessels as needed, and to prospect new customers. The salesperson will collaborate with product managers, inside sales and vendors, and other internal and external resources to actively manage the territory. The salesperson will focus on driving sustainable, profitable growth and long term customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Create and implement a territory business plan to achieve product sales and margin growth targets.

•Actively manage and expand existing customer relationships

•Will require the ability to perform ship checks on board vessels for customers. This will include entering confined spaces such as ballast tanks and machinery spaces for purposes of identifying and measuring valves and other system components. This can be physically demanding.
•Focused direct sales efforts on new customers, prospects, and architect/marine engineering firms.
•Maintain Customer Contact information and Opportunities/Reporting
•Act as main technical and material resource for customer base. This includes direct calling effort and interaction with customer engineering.
•Promote and organize training and product familiarization for customers.
•Be aware of industry pricing trends and manage margins within market/customer segmentation.
•Monitor competition and competitive threats.
•Participate in key industry trade shows, conferences and associations
•Work with Materials Management group, and branch management, on forecasting requirements and needs for each product line.
•Actively seek to develop new products and service opportunities.
•Must be able to travel including periodic nights out as required by the position based on business needs. Travel is expected to be in the 10-15% range
Preferred Qualifications

B.S. in an engineering field or business related equivalent experience
5+ years experience in sales or marine industry employment
Ability to travel 10-15% in the Norfolk / Hampton Roads markets. Occasional travel to conferences and training sessions around the country.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC™), Valid State Driver’s License.
Work Environment: Varied, will include vessel visits in port and in drydocks. Will also include customer office visits.

Requirements

What is the day to day?

Understand the operational & technical requirements of the site and ensure that current service agreement is maintained to provide necessary supplies and services.

Ordering and managing repair parts cycle times. Maintaining tools and test equipment and ensuring they are well maintained. Maintain equipment records in CMMS (Maximo).
Establish Engineering and Operational procedures and roll out for site staff. Implement existing and new energy management programs to reduce the cost on utilities.
Ensure proper engineering documentation and adherence to the client’s established change management controls.
Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner.
Maintaining daily communications with client to ensure resolution and proper follow-up on arising issues. Meeting Health Safety and Environment (HSE) and/or all other applicable regulatory / safety requirements on client's premises.
Attending site walk with management and client on weekly and monthly basis (Safety Champion Walk, Quality Audit Walk, Internal EHS site walk, etc.)
Ensure alignment and compliance to established policies and standard operating procedures for the management of the client's critical environment monitoring (CEM).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong customer service orientation, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of maintenance and operation of building automation systems, water treatment, HVAC, electrical and fire life safety systems.

Overview
The 3rd Class Engineer is responsible for monitoring and participating in boiler plant operations. For all of the above, investigate unusual readings and check operating systems to detect faulty equipment. Correct their cause(s) when able and keep team informed of progress. All logs are subject to spot-checks to maintain accuracy.

Equipment Maintenance
-- Safely perform preventative and corrective maintenance to limit equipment failure and reduce equipment downtime.
-- Help establish and update downtime schedules for equipment updates and overhauls.

SCOPE:

Collaborate with global manufacturing sites to ensure consistency in process, both safety and production processes.
Conduct audits of Operations and corporate sites regarding HSE regulations.
Conduct Safety training and education programs. This includes new hire orientation and continuing HSE education of all US manufacturing site employees and sales employees (as needed).
Conducts Radiation training for visitors, Sirtex employees from other sites and contractors.
Assists Senior HSE and Facilities Manager with US/APAC/LATAM sales dosimeter and PPE program.
Update and maintain Emergency response plans and procedures, provides training, conducts drills. Maintains all fire protection equipment, conducts monthly inspections, works with outside vendors and fire department.
Liaise as necessary with local, state and federal authorities that oversee the operation at the site. For example, the FDA and State Radiation Control.
Develop and implement work health and safety procedures based on approved Sirtex policies across all manufacturing sites.
Investigate the cause of accidents on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences. Maintain records of all injuries and illnesses occurring in the facility in accordance with legislative requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records.
Maintain first aid supplies and first aid room in accordance with legislative requirements. Coordinates first aid/CPR training at US manufacturing sites.
Liaise with technical specialists, government instrumentalities and industry colleagues to ensure the work health and safety function meets all requirements.
Perform other duties assigned by the Senior Global HSE and Facilities Manager.

Security:

The Facilities and Safety Engineer will be responsible for managing the physical security system at the US manufacturing sites. This position is one of 3 employees who is responsible for receiving calls with alarm activity.
Responsible for the management of the visitor program and sign in software.
This position will assist in implement HSESOP50-Physical Security and all related security policies and work instructions. Participates in CIFUS audits (as required) and prepare the US manufacturing sites for the event. Prepare monthly security reports for notifications received from security system (e.g., door forced open, unknown access attempt, badge out of date/time range).

•Will require the ability to perform ship checks on board vessels for customers. This will include entering confined spaces such as ballast tanks and machinery spaces for purposes of identifying and measuring valves and other system components. This can be physically demanding.

Preferred Qualifications

B.S. in an engineering field or business related equivalent experience
5+ years experience in sales or marine industry employment
Ability to travel 10-15% in the Norfolk / Hampton Roads markets. Occasional travel to conferences and training sessions around the country.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC™), Valid State Driver’s License.
Work Environment: Varied, will include vessel visits in port and in drydocks. Will also include customer office visits.

Dockmaster

The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising all docking and undocking operations of vessels in an efficient manner while ensuring the safety of all personnel and equipment.

Responsibilities will include interfacing with Operations Management to schedule the docking and undocking of vessels. Must be able to clearly read and interpret docking plans/arrangements, develop blocking plans with safe blocking loads based upon sound calculations, and be capable of layout/safe arrangement of blocks for docking. Execute safe dry-docking evolutions and vessel launching, analyze tide and wind conditions, and maintain weight logs and docking plans.

This position requires a minimum of 10 years working in a shipyard, and experience as a dock master working with large graving docks. Supervisory experience required, along with the ability to work nights and weekends.

Dockmaster certification required. Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering required; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
