OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position directly supervises day porters, maintenance technicians, and maintenance assistants. Our Engineer III maintains and operates large and small scale HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, boiler systems, control systems and their support equipment, responds to tenant service requests, troubleshoots problems, recommends enhancements for all building mechanical and electrical systems and works on special projects assigned by the Chief Engineer. He/she is considered essential personnel and is required to respond to after-hour emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs preventative maintenance on equipment
Operates and maintains water chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, air handling equipment, fans, automatic temperature controls, electrical switch gear, distribution switch boards and panels, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, valves, plumbing fixtures, and other mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in the building
Disassembles, cleans, examines for wear or damage, replaces parts, tests and adjusts mechanical equipment (pumps, fans, dehumidifiers, compressors, condensers, water coolers, cooling towers, etc.)
Participate in the development and implementation of the operating, maintenance, and capital improvement budgets (help with development before next level)
Assist with construction drawing review and construction oversight during customer TI projects
Helps to remove snow and ice from the outside of the building, including around the roof drains
Performs duties required to correct emergency conditions
Fulfills other duties as needed

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints. Have an understanding of HVAC controls
Capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as well as computing percentages
Apt at dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Proven ability to work independently while also exhibiting strong leadership and management skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum of five years experience in a similar job; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have OSHA 10 card or significant OSHA training
Classroom training / certificate in basic electrical and basic refrigeration
Universal CFC Certification
Appropriate License/permit for trade as may be required

• Assigned to the TS EMPIRE STATE Ship to facilitate Deck Maintenance Labs with overall supervision of Deck Cadets engaged in this ship work.

• Responsible for responding to the increased requirements imposed by the mandated development of a Shipboard Management System which requires a maintenance program and PMs in addition to associated documentation
• Overall supervision of re-instated Saturday Ship Work periods
• Participation on Summer Sea Term (SST) would be required for at least one half of the SST (Cruise A or Cruise B) with duties to include training and development of cadets onboard the ship during SSTs by a subject matter expert capable of mentoring the nearly 500+ deck Cadets that go on SST each summer to hone their skills and apply them practically when at sea
• A direct advisor and mentor to deck Cadets in the deck license program specifically with the shipboard specific training for those Cadets participating in their 1/C training cruise
• Participates in the Indoctrination Program working with basic safety and familiarization training and works with Cadet IDO leadership to develop MUG deck training programs during the academic semesters

Manages utility budgets, forecasts future needs, and develops capital plans for infrastructure improvements.
Documents building and customer utility requirements and identifies opportunities for equipment and tool upgrades. Coordinates emergency response efforts and recommends corrective measures as needed.
Counsels and advises personnel on job-related matters and prepares counseling reports and performance evaluations. Makes recommendations concerning disciplinary actions.
Participates in the interviewing of candidates for positions and provides recommendations on hiring decisions.
Maintains communication and positive relationships with faculty and staff from the various University departments and outside regulatory agencies. Represents the Facilities Department's mission and needs in interactions with members of the University community and outside agencies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Plant Engineering, or a related field, coupled with at least ten years of relevant experience, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.

Possession of a Massachusetts Third Class Engineer's License preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in engineering principles applicable to steam, hot water heating, chilled water systems, electrical generation, boilers, chillers, gas turbines, and distribution systems.

Job Description:

The Vice President for Regimental Affairs & Master has ultimate command of the Maritime College Training Ship and is responsible for its safe and efficient operation, including: ship's seaworthiness, safety and security conditions, training operations, safe navigation, crew management and ensuring that the vessel complies with all federal, state and international laws and regulations, as well as Maritime Administration (MARAD), State (SUNY), Maritime College, Classification Society (ABS) and Flag State rules and policies. The Master is responsible for facilitating the College's deck and engine shipboard training programs, which the Provost and academic departments manage. The Master is also responsible for liaison with the Maritime Administration and various other federal agencies. In this leadership role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for navigating complex waters, managing crew and Cadet performance, facilitating applicable MARAD policies to include EMBARC and other prevention initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of maritime safety in an academic environment, at sea and import. This is a Management Confidential position reporting directly to and serving at the pleasure of the President and is a part of the President's Cabinet. The Master is also a faculty member in the Marine Transportation Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the Regimental Affairs division in their work to develop and prepare regimental students for life at sea
• Provide leadership opportunities and promote student success and retention
• Perform the duties of the Master, including navigating and piloting the vessel
• Performs the operation of shipboard and other automated systems.
• Operate ship's navigation and communication electronics when required
• Maintenance of the vessel necessary to maintain its operational status and material readiness
• Prepare for and conduct annual U.S. Coast Guard inspection, periodic FCC inspections, and internal and external audits
• Administer the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure the safety of crew members and passengers by providing safety instruction, conducting drills and monitoring activities, and ensuring all safety systems are operable
• Maintain and update all vessel documents and records, and submit all required reports related to the vessel
• Coordinate with the Designated Person Ashore on applicable topics
• Keep vessel's pier and storage areas neat and organized

Overview

Responsibilities and Duties:

Essential Functions:

· Develop or update the Town’s Energy Management Plan and maintain compliance with Green Communities designation requirements, including annual reporting, grant submissions, and tracking of program deliverables.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, environmental policy, engineering, business, communications, or a related field; and at least three (3) years of professional experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, project management, or community outreach. An associate’s degree in a related field with five (5) or more years of relevant experience may be considered. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

Knowledge: Knowledge of energy management systems, energy performance analysis, greenhouse gas inventories, and decarbonization goals at the state and local level. Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, lighting controls, weatherization measures, and energy procurement practices. Understanding of laws, regulations, and initiatives related to the Green Communities Act, renewable energy, and energy efficiency programs. OVERVIEW
The energy manager works in the Capital Projects Unit and is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of energy and climate mitigation-related projects, programs, and policies for the City of Lynn. The role supports energy efficiency and emissions reductions in school and other municipal buildings, in pursuit of Massachusetts’ goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The position manages the City’s green grants and monitors City energy usage to meet the City’s energy efficiency goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and track energy usage and energy and carbon savings projects for all municipal buildings. Collect, track, analyze, and communicate energy, utility, emissions, fleet, and other relevant data.
• Facilitate an Energy Management Assessment to evaluate the current state of energy management practices and policies in the municipality.
• Prepare an annual work plan and track the work plan with quarterly and annual reports.
• Through use of the Mass Energy Insight tool offered by the MA Department of Energy Resources, develop or refresh an Energy Management Plan of municipal facilities.
• In coordination with the Facilities Department and building operators, develop and manage projects that will reduce annual energy use and reduce carbon emissions. Projects may be short term or may require long-term planning. This position may need to procure and manage technical assistance and/or implementation vendors to execute work.
• Work with the sponsors of Mass Save and school department to complete no cost assessments of energy saving opportunities in all school buildings and other municipal buildings.
• Manage project budgets, municipal solar projects, and create or advocate for long term funding mechanisms within city budgets.
• Assist with management of energy supply procurement and implement municipal aggregation program.
• Maintain compliance with Green Communities designation from MA DOER for school and other municipal facilities, streetlights, vehicle fleet including grant management, annual reporting, and maintenance of municipal Mass Energy Insight profile.
• Prepare written materials including requests for proposals, grant applications, bid specifications, press releases, presentations, and web content in support of carbon reduction initiatives.
