Part Time Broadcast Operations Technician

WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Needham, MA, is urgently seeking experienced Broadcast Operations Technicians to join our team. This position is part of the IBEW union and offers 20+ average weekly hours, with potential for long-term employment. The Broadcast Operations Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the technical quality and integrity of the station's on-air signals and equipment, spanning acquisition to distribution. Prior experience as a Technical Director is highly valued. In this role, you will support both in-house operations and remote production efforts. This position reports directly to the Technical Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

Operate various technical positions (Technical Directing, robotic cameras, and audio) in control room and on remote productions
Master Control operations and Air Assist functions across multiple broadcast platforms
ENG Receive acquisition and distribution. Familiarity with TVU is a plus.
Floor Directing in studio and at remote productions
Move and handle props and sets during in-house and remote productions (this could mean helping move heavy equipment)
Maintain appearance of studios including cleaning of set and floors
Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board with knowledge to maintain proper programming; ability to climb ladders, change light bulbs and adjust fixtures
Dress microphone's and IFB's for on camera appearances
Basic multi-media computer skills and familiarity with current Internet technology including downloading of materials for promos and commercial client spots
Assist with various technical needs on remote productions
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Operations Manager
Potential shifts available: Eye Opener 4a-12p, 4a-2p; Overnight 11p-7a; Nightside 2p-12a.
Requirements

2+ years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with experience operating different broadcast equipment
Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment
Related military experience will be considered

We are looking for a stellar Maintenance Technician that embodies our core values to join our group! This person will be a team player eager to provide our clients (owners, lenders, tenants, etc.) with the highest level of customer service through providing maintenance services for an office/life science portfolio in Needham, MA in accordance with the standards and procedures of the Company.

Role + Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintenance and repairs of base building equipment and for performing tasks that may be assigned in an efficient and skillful manner, in the best interest of the Company, and in a fashion that promotes efficient and collaborative relationships

Responsible for keeping all base building mechanical equipment records, logs, and time sheets necessary to maintain the assigned portfolio at the highest level of operational performance

Assist the Property Manager in coordinating and overseeing all contracted vendors’ work performance and ensure adherence to all operational and safety policies
Provide budget recommendations for capital expenditures and extraordinary repairs and maintenance

Assist in the maintenance of plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, steam systems, specialty items such as doors, locks, door closures, furniture, or whatever general maintenance or electrical mechanical work is required

Repair equipment in their area of responsibility, escalating to supervisor as necessary, and always taking into consideration impacts on the Tenants

Perform regularly scheduled periodic building rounds to check all base building equipment and keep accurate log sheets as required

Assist in all energy conservation projects

Participate in on call rotation for off-hours emergency response for assigned office/life science portfolio as well as cross-training at other Bulfinch properties.

Analyzing problems and identifying corrective measures

Maintain and check blueprints as needed

Ordering and inventorying supplies and spare parts necessary for maintenance, and understanding repair manuals and parts catalogs

Review specifications, conduct site inspections, review system design and drawings

Utilize Yardi, or any other maintenance software, to track time, parts, repairs, tasks, etc. for all work completed, to include work orders and preventative maintenance

Respond to and complete tenant work order requests in a timely manner

Complete all required OSHA outreach 30-hour – General Industry training

Keep accurate time sheets utilizing the company payroll tracking system

Assist Property Manager with the management of day-to-day operations of the assigned portfolio in accordance with the standards and procedures of Bulfinch

Responsible to support all aspects of tenant satisfaction in addition to achieving stated financial results (NOI and cash flow) and operating objectives relating to capital improvements, system enhancements, and operating expense control

Represent Bulfinch and enhance the firm’s reputation and capabilities to prospective and current tenants, vendors, brokers, and clients

Provide our clients (owners, lenders, tenants, etc.) with the highest level of customer service available

Perform additional duties, as requested, by the Property Manager or Vice President, Director of Engineering

Requirements:

Must be a motivated self-starter with strong work ethic

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Must be computer savvy with history working with computerized work order and preventative maintenance software systems, and Microsoft Office and Outlook (prepare reports, format spreadsheets, communicate via email).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in building/property maintenance

Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems/maintenance, refrigeration, cooling tower water chemistry, control systems, electrical, plumbing, energy management systems and other building mechanical equipment

Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair -mechanical systems and components of mechanical systems

Positive attitude with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

MA Refrigeration Journeyman License preferred but not required

Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc.

Prior experience with chemical treatment of non-potable water and steam systems

Proven knowledge of current issues relating to building operations and maintenance, including CFC, IAQ, etc.

Ability to effectively perform work in accordance with governmental and other regulatory agencies (including EPA, OSHA, etc.)

A valid driver’s license

Ability to communicate with multiple disciplines both technical and non-technical.

Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)/energy conservation are essential

Proficient in central plant record keeping, data analysis and computerized maintenance management systems.

Competency in Permit Requiring Confined Space

Strong communication skills both written and verbal
