Water Technician

Under the direction of the Water & Sewer Manager, the Water Technician provides for the delivery of high-quality water throughout the water distribution network. This position performs all necessary work related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of public water distribution systems to commercial, residential and public properties. Ensures organizational efficiency in the application of prescribed policies, procedures, and methods. Work involves frequent interpretation of policies, procedures and guidelines, and may involve the development of recommendations consistent with directives, policies and regulations.

Salary: Full range for this position is $26.74 to $34.45/hour with an expected initial hiring range of $26.74 to $27.84, depending on qualifications.
Hours: M-F, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm, overtime required
Responds to emergency calls during and after normal business hours.
Available for On-Call Rotation for after-hour emergencies and weekend station checks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School equivalency and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in public works construction and maintenance including experience in the operation of a public water distribution system; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of a municipal water distribution system.
Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to evaluate and recommend repairs, keeping customer inconvenience to a minimum.
Customer service experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff.
Ability to operate a computer with intermediate Google G-suite skills, ability to create spreadsheets, prepare reports and maintain records.
Skill in water samples and testing.
Computer skills that encompass effective use of word processing

Licensing/Certifications:
Possession of a valid 2B Hoisting License (required)
Possession of a valid Class B CDL (required)
Possession of Drinking Water Distribution License (preferred)
Possession of Drinking Water Treatment License (preferred)
