Marine Engineer

We’re looking for talented Marine Engineer to join our Team, located out of our Chesapeake, VA office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for tracking the technical aspects of vessel modernization and alterations for Military Sealift Command (MSC).
Responsibilities:
Serve as Marine Engineer for assigned projects concerning public vessels powered by steam, diesel, and gas turbines
Take ownership of technical software application issues brought by our customer base, engaging other teams (internal and external) when needed to drive resolution
Serve as a consultant to MSC Marine Engineers, working closely with all team members in the life cycle management (to include alteration and modernization) of assigned vessels
Assist MSC Engineers with development of engineering products necessary for vessel sustainment
Provides support and recommendations to the team support process workflows and tracking of various projects. This includes attending and supporting monthly project meetings, recording action items and tracking them to completion
Provides support for data reports, metrics tracking and trend analysis of data to the team
Assists with troubleshooting and/or training of users within the application for tracking projects and activities
Provides support for Software requirements writing of new features or defects and supports testing of developed software
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
If no degree, 12 years of equivalent technical experience in Naval Architecture, Marine or other Naval Engineering work and 4 years of commercial or Navy experience with maintenance concepts, programs and procedures
U.S. citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Ability to climb ladders
Able to lift up to 50 lbs., sit and/or stand for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications:
Shipyard or Vessel life cycle management experience
U.S. Coast Guard license or equivalent international standard certification as an engineer
Experience developing preventive maintenance schedules and plans
Highly organized and Detail-oriented
Strong research, problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
