Job Description:

L3Harris AUV Systems is seeking qualified AUV Field Engineer – Field Service Representatives (FSR) that are responsible for the operation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and supported auxiliary equipment. Key responsibilities include (1) operation of AUV in complex working environments/conditions including commercial and military vessels, (2) troubleshooting/maintenance/repair of electrical, mechanical, and software sensors/systems/sub-systems associated with the AUV, (3) working directly with Customers to provide on-site support as a subject matter expert (SME) for hands-on / on-site training, acceptance testing, troubleshooting/maintenance/repair, risk mitigation, and supporting overall program/project objectives.

Essential Functions:

Operating, testing and validation of AUV payloads such as sonar, cameras, acoustic position systems, object avoidance, launch and recovery systems (LARS) and custom payloads
Perform depot-level troubleshooting, maintenance, & repair at Customer sites
Requires experience with software communication and networking protocols, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams layouts, and mechanical drawing understanding
Planning and validating basic to complex mission planning & flight behaviors
Ability to provide technical assistance outside normal business hours via phone/email/remote desktop sessions
Maintaining and developing AUV product documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Develop and verify customer specifications, conduct operator training, and actively participate as an L3Harris AUV System field service representative during demonstrations and field exercises with existing and potential new customers.
Field exercises may be up to 6 weeks.
Interface with customers on behalf of L3Harris AUV Systems Engineering and Program Management teams.
Ability to travel (US and International) approximately: 60%.
Qualifications:

Active SECRET clearance required
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience in a technical field and/or former military experience.
Prior experience with troubleshooting software/hardware issues while in the field
Prior experience working with customers on-site independently
Knowledge and comfort with being on/around vessels
Physically able to work on vessels, in confined spaces, lift and carry 50-lbs and stand for extended periods during inclement weather.
Preferred Additional Skills:

US Navy background
USCG Captain’s License (or ability to qualify for one within 18-months)

Job Description:

The purpose of the Integration and Test engineer position is to synthesize and define test processes for complex Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) systems. Coordinate assembly level through system level integration and test activities and ensure that technical obligations are fulfilled.

Summary: Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management. Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.

Nature of Supervision: Work is guided by individual annual goals and objectives with minimal oversight or direction. Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the Company within area of expertise. Frequently responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions:

Synthesize and define Software System architecture, requirements, and interfaces for complex Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) systems
Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
Work with Project Engineer, other engineers and other departments to ensure that all technical contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Prepare and review design documentation in accordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.
Lead and support the test and integration of products/systems
Draft technical performance specifications and assist Purchasing Department with procurement of items as necessary
Leads technical analysis and design with customers and suppliers
Leads systems engineering tasks for both manual and automated test processes
Experience working on DoD programs
Experienced Integration and Test Engineer - requirements validation and verification, developing and executing tests, hands on with hardware and software, generating Test Plans and Test Reports, data analysis, ability to provide clear/concise status and maintain schedule
Develop and manage a test program, generate test plans, test procedures, requirements traceability, test reports, test flow, and test case design and implementation
Use software tools and perform scripting and software/hardware troubleshooting
Setup, configure, and document hardware and software systems under test, including loading software onto multiple devices to perform verification and validation
Initiates and executes root cause analysis and correction action
Support Operations in failure trend analysis and ensure failure trends are quickly and effectively identified and resolved
Provide technical consultation to internal organizations and/or customers
Manages continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
Ability to work 100% onsite
Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:

Sufficient payload-related technical background to enable constructive interface with a broad range of customer representatives
Experience with US Gov’t procurement practices (DARPA, ONR, NSF, other Navy)
Experience analyzing mission needs and shaping missions to achieve the goals
Experience with underwater acoustics, underwater vehicles and sonars
Experience with on-water integration and testing
Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines
Prior military service, especially US Navy is desirable
Six-pack Captain’s license (equivalent or greater) is desirable
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Test and/or Field Engineering or comparable Navy experience on Maritime products and solutions
Ability to travel (US and International) approximately 40%.
