DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Moran Towing Corporation (www.morantug.com) has an opportunity available for a General Manager for Moran Towing of Lake Charles, LLC. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Regional Vice President (RVP) for corresponding region.

Moran Towing of Lake Charles, LLC is located in Cameron, Louisiana, and operates state of the art equipment serving LNG vessels at the Cameron LNG Terminal. POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, effective, and efficient operations of marine assets and shoreside operations, including management of personnel, assets, and the facility.

The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and effectiveness of Moran Towing Corporation’s (“Moran” or “Company”) Safety Management System (SMS) and its applicability to marine assets and personnel. The General Manager (GM) must embrace the Company’s Mission Statement as guidance in all decisions, including promoting a strong workplace safety culture and safe work practices, identifying, and managing risk, leading by example, and ensuring or providing training and development of personnel.

The GM is responsible for maintaining the Moran brand as a recognized leader in the industry by maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies and with Moran personnel in operational and support functions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

Operations
• Implement and monitor the performance of the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Champion the Near Miss Program with full employee participation.
• Identify adverse risk behaviors and provide guidance to ensure safe work procedures.
• Participate in onboard safety drills and assist in identifying risk in the spirit of continuous improvement.
• Communicate, and engage the division in, corporately issued safety documentation, newsletters, and initiatives.
• Perform investigations into injury and/or accident events.
• Manage the division’s utilization of injury / damage software, Origami.
• Ensure assets are operated and maintained to Moran’s high standards.
• Manage compliance and reporting (Sub Chapter M, COI, USCG, ABS, etc.).
• Function as the Designated Person Ashore (DPA).
• Recruit and hire marine employees.
• Ensure employees are adequately trained as per Moran’s Center for Learning and SMS guidance.
• Develop employees for maximum performance and advancement.
• Conduct yearly Captains’ evaluations.
• Adhere to, and document, regular monthly Visible Leadership Visits aboard.
• Schedule, attend, and distribute reports for internal and external audits.
• Propose plans and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Participate as a contributing member of the Quality Steering Committee.
• Manage the leased facility.
• Seek innovative solutions and corrective actions in all aspects of our operations.

Business
• Monitor comparative performance in the marketplace with regards to assets, pricing, and market share.
• Build local port relationships with customers, agents, and regulatory agencies.
• Respond to customer inquiries for pricing, bids, etc.
• Identify new business opportunities.
• Assist the corporate Sales Department with customers as assigned.
• Assist in new business inquiries and provide local knowledge when directed.

Engineering
• Manage engineering performance of vessels and continually seek improvement in reliability.
• Manage the Engineering Team for safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Manage Moran’s Management Operating System (OMS) for the Division, which includes timely completion and proper documentation of repairs.
• Assist in reviewing and updating drydock specifications.
• Authorize Persons-In-Charge for oil transfer operations.
• Monitor vendor performance and cost.
• Ensure that adequate spare parts are available for future repairs.
• Monitor fuel consumption and expenses.

Accounting
• Complete the annual budget for the Division.
• Monitor financial performance of the Division.
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Review and approve payroll each pay period to ensure accuracy.
• Regularly review employee compensation for the Division to be aligned with marketplace and performance.

REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS
• Minimum 2-year college degree.
• Valid driver’s license and Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Prior experience demonstrating successful management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to speak publicly.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize, multi-task, operate in stressful situations, and make quick decisions.
• Ability to analyze data, including demonstrated analytical skills in Power BI, Excel pivot tables, etc. to measure and review performance.
• Ability to travel, including air travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in marine transportation or marine engineering.
• Operations experience in the tug/towing industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to: board a vessel while moored via barge landing or underway via crew boat and withstand tug motion and high temperature areas for periods of time; cross bulwarks; frequently walk, including on uneven surfaces; climb ladders and stairs; stoop; bend; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; and use a keyboard and computer screen.
