Planning Your Courses

Self Service enables you to better plan and register for the courses you need to complete your academic program. The first step for registration is to plan out the courses you will take each term. You can plan out your entire program if you want! This way you can see an acurate timeline of completing your program, or perhaps you'd like to see how you might add a minor to your course plan. 

To use Self Service to plan your coursework:

  1. Login to Self Service with your Maritime username and password.
  2. Choose the Student Planning menu item.
  3. Choose the "Go to My Progress" link or the "My Progress" option under the Student Planning drop down menu option. 
  4. You will then see the courses you have completed, the courses you still need to fulfill for your academic program, and other pertinent academic information. 
  5. Scroll down to courses that are still marked as needing to be completed. 
  6. Choose the "Search" button to look for times when the course is offered. 
  7. You can use the filter results area on the left to manage your results. 
  8. Specific sections that have been schedulded will be available when clicking "View Available Sections for..." 
    1. If you see a section you would like to take, click on the "Add Section to Schedule" button.
      1. You will be shown important information about the course, such as pre-requisites, credits, and descriptions.
    2. If you do not see a section you'd like to take, you can simply add the course to your plan for a further future term by clicking the Add Course to Plan button.

      2. You will then need to choose a term. Click Add Course to Plan. 
  9. Continue to go through "My Progress" until you have planned your entire next term or even your whole program. 
  10. You can manage your schedule for a term with the "Plan and Schedule" option.
