Seafoam 55 LLC operates a small diverse fleet of vessels out of Jacksonville, Florida, supporting maritime survey, research, and artifact recovery operations. Our flagship vessel, R/V Seafoam, is a privately owned 150-foot former Offshore Supply Vessel converted into a Multipurpose Dynamically Positioned Research Vessel. R/V Seafoam was recently outfitted and purpose-configured for shallow water diving operations and is currently being upgraded to support deep water ROV artifact recovery. We operate primarily along the U.S. East Coast and throughout the Bahamas, with active plans to expand operations into Central and South America. Our primary goal is treasure hunting.
Have you ever wanted to dive historic shipwrecks and find handfuls of gold coins? This is less of a job posting and more of an invitation to an adventure.
We are looking for a Licensed Marine Engineer to join our team working with the Chief Engineer aboard R/V Seafoam, as well as maintaining the full company fleet. This position will begin in the shipyard during her Deep Water Upgrades. Once back in operation, the position will develop into a rotational schedule where you will serve as the sole Engineer onboard, working opposite the Chief Engineer.
This is a hands-on, operationally demanding position built for someone who wants more out of a career than a routine watch and a predictable port schedule. If you thrive in environments where no two days are the same, take pride in keeping complex machinery running out at sea, and have ever looked at a nautical chart and wondered what's down there — we want to hear from you.
Fleet:
R/V Seafoam — 150' research vessel (flagship)
38' Power Catamaran — survey operations
65' Sport Fish Monohull — survey and treasure recovery operations
Multiple tender vessels, jet skis, and a fast rescue craft
Required Qualifications:
Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Engineer endorsement
SCUBA certification — or a genuine willingness to become certified
Experience aboard research, survey, or specialty vessels with Dynamic Positioning systems
Strong problem-solving instincts, natural leadership ability, and a bias toward getting things done
