Uniform

Cultivating identity, belonging, and confidence

At the Academy, each cadet is required to be in the complete Uniform of the Day (UOD). Cadets wear a uniform to exemplify the unity derived from being a part of something bigger than themselves. Cadets in uniform are an equal, cohesive unit working towards a common goal. Our uniforms are worn with pride and represent an Academy tradition of solidarity. We wear different uniforms depending on the occasion and will often wear dress uniforms for various ceremonies, events, and formations.

The Academy Bookstore is responsible for outfitting all cadets with personally-tailored uniforms. Cadets are fitted for uniforms prior to their arrival at the Academy and receive their “seabag” on day 1 of Orientation. Throughout Orientation, cadet candidates are taught by their cadre how to care for, iron, and wear their uniforms.

The UOD is worn during academic classes and in the mess deck and library. The uniform shown below is known as “classroom blacks” and is worn by all cadets on most days.
