January 16, 2026 -
Earlier today, the TS Patriot State experienced a fire involving the ship’s incinerator. The fire was quickly and successfully extinguished using the vessel’s fixed water mist system and portable dry chemical extinguishers. Crew and cadets responded using proper training and established safety protocols to manage the situation promptly and effectively. The Academy’s emphasis on safety and emergency-response training prepares cadets to work closely with the professional crew. That training contributed to the immediate and effective management of today’s incident. Sea Term will continue as planned.
January 13, 2026 -
A cadet aboard the TS Patriot State experienced an unexpected medical issue on Monday, requiring a USCG medical evacuation from the ship. The parents of the cadet have been notified and the cadet is safely on the way to receive medical attention at a local hospital. The Academy remains in contact with the ship and the family.

Arrival Day Parking Information
- Please be advised, due to campus construction, there is limited space available for parking on campus.
- Parking is on a first-come first-served basis and is only allowed along Academy Drive.
- Taylor Point Marina is open for parking. There is no shuttle service available.
