Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, is seeking multiple Roving HVAC Technicians, Electricians and Apprentices to perform maintenance and repairs throughout a portfolio of buildings. This individual will be a key member of our maintenance staff performing hands on work and maintenance duties for a portfolio of urban based office buildings and provide mechanical expertise to a wide staff of building personal. This position will be provided with a vehicle to travel between sites and reports directly to the MEP Lead.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-Travel throughout the portfolio of buildings to perform maintenance and service on building equipment on specified Synergy buildings throughout Boston.
-Assist stationery building engineers in troubleshooting and repairs of building’s HVAC equipment, scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, and provide recommendations on building and equipment upgrades.
-Perform critical service on buildings HVAC and mechanical equipment.
-Coordinate the overall quality of the work team and demonstrate an understanding of quality standards.
-Foster a collaborative work environment by leading in problem-solving within the team and across functional areas – examples would include engaging the work team in discussions about new equipment with Engineering and Maintenance.
-Develop weekly work schedules to ensure time is efficiently and accurately billed out.
-Develop a full understanding of critical building systems and how to operate them.
-Work with team to perform hands on upgrades to building equipment, equipment replacements, repairs, and emergency service.
-Off hours work at times is required to avoid disruptions to day-to-day tenant operations

What we’re looking for in you:
-Highschool graduate or equivalent required; technical training or trade school preferred.
-3+ Years experience in Electrical, HVACR or related field.
-Mass Refrigeration, Electrical or Plumbing License a plus but not required.
-Self-Motivated, Hardworking individuals not afraid of a challenge
-Ability to think beyond routine repairs, rather focusing on long term sustainable solutions being the priority.

Work Conditions & Essential Physical Characteristics:
-Work to be performed both inside the property and outside with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current, and machine noise.
-Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
-Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling.
-Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery. May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Manager of Engineering, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for technical and execution aspects of project development including, but not limited to, CCGT, SCGT, reciprocating gas plants, Solar PV and associated energy storage components, as well as other alternative technologies. Core duties will include but are not limited to:

Site Selection and Feasibility Support – Provide recommendations on the technical feasibility of individual sites contemplated for new development projects, for generating facility sites as well as sites for interconnection facilities;

Technology Assessments – Conduct technical assessments of different OEMs (related to energy projects) and provide recommendations on the type of technologies to use for the project.

Development of Plant Design & Production Models – Work with OEMs, Owner’s Engineers and EPC Contractors to develop plant design and performance for use in the interconnection process, RFP proposals, permitting and the financial model;

Interconnection Process – Lead in the development of technical inputs and sizing, in support of a project’s initial Interconnection Request and subsequent studies conducted by the regional ISO;

Infrastructure Requirements Evaluation – Work to determine all feasible options for required project infrastructure, including electrical interconnection, fuel gas interconnection, water supply/discharge, telecommunications, distribution feeders, and road/access improvements;

Development of Site Drawings – Working with the Owner’s Engineer and other technical consultants, develop all site and interconnection facility layouts, grading plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, elevations and other drawings necessary for project development and permitting;

Permit Support – Provide technical support to the Project Manager and track technical permit obligation compliance for technical/construction obligations required pre- and post-financial close;

Project Finance – Assist in the development of technical inputs to the project financial model, including production estimates, EPC capital costs, operating and maintenance expenses, and operational capital expenditures. Contract and manage the Independent Engineer (IE) due diligence process in support of financial close; review all iterations of the IE’s report; coordinate IE-Lender correspondence and report comments; and ensure timely delivery of the IE’s report, Use of Work Product Agreements, drawdown validation reviews, and any other IE requirements set forth under the project credit agreements.

Construction Execution & Asset Management Transition – Coordinate the transfer of critical development knowledge (concepts, assumptions, contact intent) to the execution team; provide direct project engineering support for construction phase activities.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Facilities, or similar engineering
8+ years of relevant engineering and technical experience; including power plant operation, design, and infrastructure interconnection
Strong communications skills
Knowledge of transmission planning standards and FERC interconnection process
Experience with power plant systems design, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems concepts
Knowledge of industry standard design codes applicable to power plants such as IBC, NEC, ASME, NFPA, and other relevant standards
Experience in facility design drawings, including but not limited to Piping and instrument diagrams, civil/structural, electrical one-line diagrams, wiring schedules and SCADA diagrams
