Crewing Coordinator – Tampa
Position Summary:
The Crewing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient crewing of US Flag vessels in compliance with company standards, U.S. Coast Guard regulations, MARAD requirements, and union agreements. This role involves coordinating vessel assignments, managing crew documentation, and working closely with unions, mariners, and internal departments to support safe and timely vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the scheduling and assignment of qualified mariners to US Flag vessels in accordance with voyage and operational requirements.

Ensure all crew members meet certification, credentialing, and medical standards in line with USCG, STCW, and company policies.

Liaise with labor unions to dispatch crew per collective bargaining agreements (e.g., AMO, SIU, MEBA).

Maintain accurate and up-to-date crew records, including credentials, training, drug testing, and travel documents.

Arrange travel and logistics for crew changes, ensuring cost efficiency and minimal operational disruption.

Monitor expiration dates of credentials and schedule renewals as needed.

Collaborate with operations, HR, and compliance teams to ensure crewing decisions align with company policy and regulatory standards.

Support audit and inspection preparation by providing crewing documentation as required.

Respond to crew emergencies or last-minute changes, including after-hours support on a rotating basis.

Requirements:
3+ years of experience in vessel crewing, preferably with US Flag operations.

Strong understanding of USCG, STCW, and MARAD regulatory requirements.

Familiarity with union dispatch procedures (e.g., MEBA, SIU, AMO).

Proficient in crewing software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.

Willingness to work after hours and on-call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation, Maritime Administration, or related field.

Prior seagoing experience or maritime academy background.

Experience with union-negotiated agreements and collective bargaining provisions.

Marine Superintendent, Tankers – Florida
Our client, a leader in the transportation of liquid cargo is looking for a Marine Superintendent to join their team.
The Role
Vessel Operations Oversight: You would be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of tanker vessels under the ownership, ensuring that they adhere to international maritime regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, including those set forth by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), flag state authorities, and port state control. Implementing safety management systems (SMS) and environmental management systems (EMS) onboard vessels.

Voyage Planning and Execution: Collaborating with ship masters and voyage planners to develop efficient voyage plans, taking into account factors such as weather, sea conditions, fuel consumption, and cargo requirements. Monitoring vessel progress and intervening as necessary to ensure timely and safe arrivals.

Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with tanker operations, including but not limited to collision avoidance, grounding, cargo contamination, pollution prevention, and security threats.

Budget Management: Developing and managing budgets for vessel operations, maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking activities. Optimizing operational costs while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Crew Management: Overseeing crewing activities, including recruitment, training, certification, and performance evaluation. Ensuring that vessel crews are adequately trained and competent to perform their duties safely and efficiently.

Maintenance and Repairs: Coordinating planned maintenance activities and repairs for vessels, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with class society requirements and manufacturer recommendations. Managing dry-docking projects and ensuring that vessels are maintained to the highest standards of seaworthiness.

Communication and Collaboration: Serving as the primary point of contact between the tanker owner, ship management teams, charterers, port authorities, classification societies, and other stakeholders. Facilitating effective communication and collaboration to achieve operational objectives.

Continuous Improvement: Proactively identifying areas for improvement in vessel operations, safety practices, and efficiency. Implementing initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.

Emergency Response: Developing and implementing emergency response plans for various scenarios, including oil spills, fire incidents, medical emergencies, and security threats. Conducting drills and training exercises to ensure that vessel crews are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies.

Maritime Academy Graduate, 5 plus years experience preferred
Sailing time on tankers as Chief Mate/Master
Exposure to Vetting/Sire Inspections
Knowledge of both USCG and ABS regulations
Excellent communication skills
Must be currently authorized to work in the US, no visa or sponsorship at this time

Position Description:

Reporting to the division manager, Safety Supervisor responsibilities include traveling to Zampell jobsites and ensuring compliance with internal, state, and OSHA/federal safety regulations. The Safety Supervisor will conduct regular safety orientation with all new employees and complete annual training with current employees. The Safety Supervisor will interact with all current employees on the job site and shop to ensure safety awareness and compliance. Additionally, the safety supervisor will inform all employees of new regulations and procedures when they are developed or mandated. Additional responsibilities include accident investigations, vehicle inspections, and maintaining and tracking Zampell safety equipment.

Specific Duties:

• Overnight travel to Zampell jobsites and complete safety audits and promote best practices.
• Must be comfortable with working from heights, confined spaces, or both simultaneously.
• Must be capable of entering man doors.
• Must be capable of climbing scaffolding for inspection of job sites.
• Conduct Safety Training for all Employees
• Maintain current safety / MSHA training for employees in paper file and online through Zampell data storage software
• Scheduling Pre-employment and Annual Physicals
• Handle all Documentation for Accident Investigations
• Maintaining, managing, and tracking Zampell safety equipment (confined space monitors, specialized fall protection equipment, etc.)
• Participate/lead Safety Meetings

Position Requirements:

• Overnight travel to jobsites – no more than 20% of the time
• Must have a clean driving record and the ability to travel to and stay on Zampell job sites for multiple days as required. (Vehicle will be provided)
• Must have experience working in plant environments (energy utilities, paper mills, aluminum, or similar), confined space entry, and scaffolding.
• General proficiency with computers (ex. Microsoft office, safety training data entry)
• Team player with strong communication skills, comfortable with addressing employees, presenting training, and representing Zampell at customer safety meetings.
• Must be organized and able to take initiative.

Qualifications/Certifications:

 Safety certification (Degree, CHST, or similar in occupational safety)
 Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in relevant position.
 OSHA 30 in Construction
 MSHA part 46 general practices and documentation preferred
 PIT Certs. (Forklift, LULL, AWP, Etc.) preferred
 Bilingual preferred
