Masters of Science in Facilities Management
The mission of the MSFM program is to give students the knowledge and skills to become creative problem solvers and thus to succeed in a variety of senior facilities management and leadership positions. The program forges home the idea that good ideas are not enough and that implementation is what separates excellence in management and leadership from mediocrity. The expected learning outcomes of the MSFM program is that the graduate can better manage people, policy, projects, finance, energy, and emergencies. In doing so the MSFM provides facilities managers with the personal, interpersonal, and group skills necessary to implement creative ideas.
The Master of Science Degree in Facilities Management (MSFM) was developed to prepare students for Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering, Plant Operation and Manufacturing positions in the facilities industry. The program was created to assist the person who seeks to refine his/her management skills as they relate to the Facilities Industry. It provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a variety of senior facilities management and leadership positions. This 31 credit, ten course executive program is offered in a 17 month format on alternate Friday evenings and Saturdays.
The program consists of 10 common core courses. Each course will require 42 contact hours in the classroom, 14 hours per weekend. A minimum of 31 approved graduate credits is required for the MSFM degree. Each course is 3-credits with the exception of the Capstone Seminar, which is 4-credits. The MSFM degree provides professional education to prepare students for an increased leadership role in facilities management by applying strategic thinking to managerial problems; facilities project management, and organizational issues.

MSFM classes are based at the Conference Center at Waltham Woods in Waltham, Massachusetts. Students will be housed at the Westin in Waltham, Massachusetts. These sites were specifically chosen in consideration of its convenience for students working in the Greater Boston area. With overnight accommodations included in the program, students essentially have a one-way commute from work to class.
Admittance Each class will be comprised of a maximum of 24 students who will sequence collectively as a core group through the entire program. The application review process will take approximately three weeks upon receipt of the completed application package.
- Candidates must possess a BS or BA degree and preferably one year of full-time work experience.
- Candidates may be required to take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Candidates must provide two professional references.
- Candidates must provide a current resume.

The students will be housed at the Westin in Waltham, MA, which provides five-star accommodations, meeting rooms for students, a swimming pool and exercise room. All classes will be held at the Conference Center at Waltham Woods. Instruction, Lodging, Meals, Textbooks, Wireless Access, and all Instructional Materials will be included in the cost of the program.
