We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Boiler Controls Technician with at least

10 years of field experience working on flame safeguard and burner management

systems. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of AutoFlame, Siemens LNV,

Fireye, Honeywell, Hawk, and other industry-standard control platforms. This role

requires advanced troubleshooting, service, and commissioning skills, as well as the

ability to train junior technicians and work collaboratively with both internal teams and

customer personnel. Experience with hydronic boilers (condensing and non-condensing)

is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of burner

management systems and flame safeguard controls on all major platforms

including:

o AutoFlame

o Fireye

o Honeywell

o Siemens (LNV52 and related systems)

o Cleaver-Brooks Hawk systems• Install, wire, program, and commission new control systems on steam and

hydronic boilers.

• Troubleshoot combustion and control issues in the field with minimal supervision.

• Work on a wide range of boiler types and configurations, including:

o Condensing and non-condensing hydronic boilers

o Scotch Marine firetube

o Watertube

o Dual-fuel and modulating systems

• Configure and fine-tune VFDs, servos, actuators, O2 trim systems, and associated

instrumentation.

• Maintain and interpret wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and P&ID drawings.

• Provide on-site and remote technical support for control system issues.

• Accurately document service work, settings, and system changes for customer

and internal records.

• Assist in scope development and retrofit planning for controls upgrades.

• Train and mentor junior technicians, sharing best practices and safety standards.

• Interface with customers to communicate findings, recommendations, and

support service relationships.

• Maintain strong safety practices on every job site, including compliance with

Lockout/Tagout, hot work, and confined space procedures.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience servicing and commissioning boiler

control systems.

• Deep working knowledge of flame safeguard systems and combustion controls.

• Strong understanding of combustion principles, gas train components, and

burner operation.

• Proficient with hydronic heating systems, including both condensing and non-

condensing boiler applications.

• Solid electrical and instrumentation skills, including the ability to troubleshoot

control wiring and field devices.

• Familiar with BACnet, Modbus, or other common building automation interfaces

(preferred but not required).

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.

• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.• Must be comfortable training and guiding less experienced technicians.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Able to lift 50 lbs and work in field environments, including rooftops, mechanical

rooms, and tight spaces.

Preferred Certifications (a plus):

• OEM training certifications (e.g., AutoFlame, Siemens, Fireye, etc.)

• OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or similar safety training

• HVAC/R certifications or licensure

Work Environment:

• Field-based role requiring regular travel to customer job sites. Must be available

for occasional after-hours service calls, emergency support, and commissioning

schedules. Work may occur in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Compensation:

$40.00 – $60.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
