ABOUT US:
Atlantic Coast Seafood, Inc., is a fresh fish wholesale distributor who has been supplying premium quality, whole, fresh fish to companies nationally and internationally for over 35 years. Atlantic Coast Seafood is the last thriving facility offloading the Boston fishing fleet. We have established a way to ice, power, unload, repair and fuel these vessels to ensure the Boston Fish Pier is a full-service port. Atlantic Coast Seafood unloads multiple boats on any given day, seven days a week. Once a vessel has been unloaded, the catch is separated, packaged and shipped out to various establishments across the northeast, all in the same day. Atlantic Coast Seafood has continued to grow, with its daily expansion of customers and the addition of new vessels to be offloaded.
POSITION TITLE:
Facility & Vessel Maintenance Tech
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
· Responsible for the proper operation of a wide variety of complex machinery and equipment in the processing plant and fishing vessels.
· Responsible for specialized repair and maintenance in a particular discipline such as electrical and mechanical devices, hydraulics, plant operations, general facilities maintenance, processing equipment as assigned and as qualified.
· Maintains and repairs various equipment.
· May assist in the operation of ice machine systems.
· Responsible for having a firm knowledge of plant layout, and a firm knowledge of the systems and/or equipment related to their specialized discipline. Must be able to anticipate plant and vessel priorities as the situation arises.
· Contributes to the overall preventative maintenance program with the current framework of Atlantic Coast Seafoods, Inc.
· Completes speedy and effective production operations and facilities maintenance during plant downtime and provide well-arranged details of work tasks and contributes to the overall effort.
· Creates and maintains a safe working environment in accordance with company policy by closely monitoring the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area.
REQUIREMENTS:
Related Experience involving fishing vessels, electrical systems, refrigeration, mechanical engineering or related experience.
· Work experience demonstrates a general maintenance and repair background.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
· Must be 18 years of age or older and be authorized to legally work in the United States.
· Able to work around seafood including several types of fish and shellfish.
· Able to work up to seven days a week. Work conditions may be cold, wet, and noisy.
· Able to lift to 70 pounds occasionally during the work shift.
· Able to follow directions, adhere to work rules, and perform duties with a sense of urgency and keen attention to detail.
· Able to act, exercise independent decision making, and resolution of mechanical malfunctions in a rigorous seafood environment.
· Prompt, dependable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
· Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
· Maintains current and accurate information for rounds and maintenance activities.
· Other duties as assigned.
