We are seeking a skilled and reliable Boiler Mechanic with certified code welding
experience to join our team. This role involves mechanical service, repairs, inspections,
boiler change-outs, and piping modifications on Scotch Marine and other
industrial/commercial boilers, including steam and hydronic systems. The ideal
candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on boiler experience, and the ability to
perform high-quality code welds on pressure parts and piping systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and annual inspections on Scotch
Marine and other types of boilers per ASME and jurisdictional requirements.
• Execute boiler change-outs, including rigging, setting, and connection of steam
and hydronic piping systems.
• Remove, inspect, clean, and reinstall manways, handholes, and fireside/waterside
access covers.
• Replace or repair pressure components such as blowdown valves, check valves,
piping, and trim.• Perform code welding on boiler vessels and piping systems using Schedule 40
and Schedule 80 materials.
• Install and modify steam, condensate, feedwater, and fuel piping systems,
ensuring mechanical integrity and code compliance.
• Conduct hydrostatic testing, leak checks, and visual inspections on new and
repaired systems.
• Fabricate and install piping to support new or existing boiler installations.
• Work on a variety of boiler types, including Scotch Marine, firetube, watertube,
and cast iron sectional boilers.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and follow all job site safety
protocols, including LOTO, hot work permitting, and confined space entry.
Qualifications:
• 5-10 years of experience working with industrial/commercial boiler systems and
mechanical piping.
• Certified code welder with valid ASME Section I/IX qualifications.
• Proficient in welding carbon steel piping and pressure parts.
• Strong understanding of steam and hydronic heating systems.
• Familiarity with a variety of boiler types, including Scotch Marine, watertube, and
cast iron boilers.
• Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Must be physically able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• OSHA 10/30, Confined Space Entry, or other relevant safety certifications.
• Experience with pressure part fabrication and field installation.
• Familiarity with DA tanks, feedwater systems, and mechanical fuel trains.Work Environment:
• Field-based and shop work required.
• Candidate must be flexible for overtime, shutdowns, and out-of-town jobs.
• Work conditions may include indoor/outdoor environments, high temperatures,
noise, and confined spaces.
Compensation:
$40.00 – $60.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
