Part-time Lab AssistantGeneral Responsibilities

Lab Assistant—The successful candidate will have theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on ability in various shipboard engineering systems. They would work in one of the following labs: Internal Combustion Engines, Auxiliary Machinery, Steam Generation, Refrigeration, Machine Tools, Engineering Systems and Safety, or perform maintenance within the labs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or an appropriate field
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience or professional experience in a relevant discipline(s)
- Have held an unlimited Second Assistant Engineer license or greater, or currently possess an active Third Assistant Engineer’s license, and
- Demonstrated work history, teaching, and practical experience in the subject concentration
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution
- Recent experience teaching or in professional service in the maritime field
- Upper-level license
