As the TS Kennedy docked yesterday in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas yesterday, a few Massachusetts cadets noticed a familiar vessel.  Across the harbor, they spotted Excellence, one of the largest superyachts in the world.  It belongs to billionaire Herb Chamber, the owner of sixty car dealerships in the greater Boston area.  Valued at $120 million, Excellence is 263 feet long, with a beam of 47.4 feet.

Cadets recall spotting this yacht last summer in Nantucket and Boston.

Excellence boasts seven luxury cabins.  Her twelve guests can enjoy the vessel’s cinema, the gym, and a spa with a sauna. On the main deck, there’s a pool with a swim-up bar.  Located aft is a beach club that offers direct water access.  Of course, it is stocked with a wide variety of water toys. There are also two tenders so that guests can go back and forth to shore.

This is Herb Chamber’s sixth yacht, all of which he named Excellence.  He has sold all but one of those yachts.  Their new owners renamed them Arience, Eminence, Dream, Princess Too, and Miss Iloilo

To offset the $5-12 million operating cost, Herb Chambers makes Excellence available for chartering at a cost of $1.1 million per week.  Anyone interested?

And...we have proof that Excellence has cruised past Massachusetts Maritime Academy.  Check out this video of Excellence passing through the Cape Cod Canal.  Although the video does not show the Academy, you do see her passing under the Railroad Bridge which is very close to campus.  Check it out!
