Meet 1/C Robert Charles Houde from Ayer, Massachusetts! In June, He will earn his degree in Marine Transportation.
Robert attended Page Hilltop Elementary School, Shirley Regional School, and Ayer-Shirley Regional High School.
Robert's love of boats was developed at a young age. His grandparents and great-grandfather lived along the Piscataqua River in Eliot, Maine. This 12-mile-long tidal river forms the boundary of New Hampshire and Maine.
Growing up Robert enjoyed time on various sailboats and motorboats. Robert honed his sailing skills as a Boy Scout at Camp Wanocksett in Dublin, New Hampshire. This included the summer he didn't complete a single merit badge and spent the week looking for people to sail with him. He has always been drawn to the water.
Robert is to have students at Page Hilltop Elementary School following his final Sea Term. He also sends a shoutout to all of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts participating in the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program, especially Cub Scout Pack 105 from Pembroke, Massachusetts.
