Cadet Spotlight: Meet 3/C James Culkins (MENG - Nantucket, MA)

Meet 3/C James Culkins, a Marine Engineering major from Nantucket, Massachusetts, a small island thirty miles off the coast of Cape Cod.  The area of the island is just 47.8 square miles.  

James attended Nantucket Elementary School, Cyrus Pierce Middle School, and Nantucket High School.

James’s proud mom said, “James grew up on island and learned to love the ocean and boats.  Many Nantucket High School graduates go to Massachusetts Maritime Academy and have great careers traveling the world." 

Hundreds of students from Nantucket are participating in the Follow The Voyage - Share The Experience Program.  The support from the island is amazing! In fact, you'd have a hard time finding someone on the island who isn't talking about Sea Term 2023.  

James isn't the only cadet aboard the TS Kennedy that calls Nantucket home.  He is joined by fellow Marine Engineering majors, 1/C Camden Willet, 1/C Paige Albertson, 3/C Matthew McFarlane, 3/C Charles Hickman, 4/C Zachary Wallingford, and 4/C Justin Zadroga.  1/C Austin Starr, also from Nantucket, is majoring in Marine Transportation.

On behalf of all of the Nantucket cadets, James sends a sincere thank you to all of the students at Nantucket Elementary School, Nantucket New School, Cyrus Pierce Middle School, and Nantucket High School.

James and the other Nantucket cadets also send a high-five to all of the other island schools participating in the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program.  They are appreciative of the support from the Island Schools Community that has formed.  Check out the list below.
