Hey ya'll!  So today my division was on maintenance and what i did today was really busy. I got to walk around the whole ship and test and check every fire extinguisher that the ship has, including the lifeboats. We made sure that the dry chemical that the extinguishers use was not stuck to the bottom, so we shook them up to help break up any packed dry chemical that was stuck to the bottom.

Here is a little fun fact: dry chemical is a form of fire suppression like water, but the dry chemical can work on any type of fire.

I hope ya'll are enjoying the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program. Thank ya'll again for following!

Do you know the location of every fire extinguisher at your school?  This week, tell your school custodian about Salvador's blog.  Ask them when the last time the fire extinguishers at your school were tested.

Each day, you walk past fire extinguishers every day at home, at school, at church, in restaurants, and out in the community.  Do you know how a fire extinguisher works?  Check out this video to discover the science behind it.

Salvador, thanks for talking about your work with all of the fire extinguishers aboard the TS Kennedy.  Hopefully, this will get our student followers asking questions about when and how often fire extinguishers are tested back on land.  Even a short blog can have a big impact.

We always look forward to hearing from you.
