Background:
Wayne Magee is a native Ohioan, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, from Youngstown State University (YSU). During his time at YSU, he was privileged to perform in the University's Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and the YSU Marching Pride. Wayne has earned a Master of Science degree from Northeastern University. Wayne also completed post graduate studies in Music at Messiah University.
Wayne's music career began in working with the community youth touring field and concert band, the "Warren Junior Military Band". Wayne has had the privilege of serving on the instructional marching band staff at the high school level as well as serving as a trumpet instructor at the elementary and intermediate levels. Wayne is a freelanced trumpeter, music educator, and conductor. He has guest conducted ensembles of all levels - ranging from elementary through college.
Wayne is a proud Eagle Scout and holds professional memberships with the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA), the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA),the National Band Association (NBA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Since 2008, Wayne has been working in the University of Massachusetts system, serving at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, in the Residential Life and Student Services department as the administrator in charge of the "7th Company" student dormitory complex. Wayne also has the distinct honor of being the founding director of the "Pride of the Regiment ", the Regimental Band, Honor Guard, and Drill Team. The "Pride of the Regiment" under his stewardship has garnered national acclaim performing annually in Boston, New York City and Washington D.C. coupled with numerous invitations to perform internationally.
Wayne is also a published author of the book entitled "Tough Blows: A Lifelong Journey of Defying the Odds", as well as a published essayist. He has written on topics ranging from music, professional career development, personal growth, and personal finance.

Lauren Murphy was a four year member of the Buccaneer women's soccer program from 2010 to 2013. In her time in a Buccaneer uniform, coach Murphy scored 18 career goals, leading the Bucs in goals scored in her freshman (4) and senior (9) seasons. Of those 18 career goals, five were game winners, including three in her senior season. In her final year at Maritime she was named Captain of the team.
Murphy graduated in the Spring of 2014 with her Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation. Following graduation, she shipped out with the Master Mates and Pilots Union, of which she is a member.
Prior to coaching, Lauren was a player on the Olympic Development Program for both the state of Massachusetts and the North East Region. She played club level soccer where her team was finalist for the state cup 3 times. During her senior year of high school, she led her team to a Bay State Games Championship.
After four years on the ocean, Lauren has decided to come back and find a job shoreside and work with the program she dedicated so much time to as a Cadet at the Academy.

Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Bowdoin College and her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon completion of her studies, she worked as a research scientist for Honeywell’s Consumer Products Group, where she formulated products used in the car care industry. She is an inventor on four patents related to that work. She taught at Western Connecticut State University and Bridgewater State University before joining the faculty at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In collaboration with a veteran of the fire services, she co-authored Hazardous Materials Chemistry, 3rd Edition, published in 2018.
