The department was renamed from “Facilities” and reorganized this past year to better fit the needs of the Academy. During the semesters, the maintenance department focuses on the cleanliness of the dormitory and student needs covering three shifts. During intersessions, the staff is able to return to regular schedules and maintain focus on campus buildings.
This year, the Academy partnered with Cape Abilities to employ individuals with disabilities to serve in the capacity as maintainers. Cape Abilities serves over 400 individuals with disabilities throughout Barnstable County.
In addition, the department provides custodial, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, locksmith, grounds keeping, transportation, auto-shop, and snow removal services for the campus. Further, the department also oversees the budget and maintenance personnel for the dormitories. HVAC, heat, and power services are supplied by the Power Plant which operates under the Operations & Maintenance umbrella.
