Facilities Operations Manager
Purpose
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Facilities Operations Manager will work with the facility staff in ensuring the functionality, maintenance, and cleanliness of both the Hayden Recreation Centre and the Hayden Ice Facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support facilities supervisors in maintaining the operational functionality of both facilities, including mechanical systems, repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
Assist in the coordination and oversight of contractors and vendors for facility repairs, maintenance services, and improvement projects
Contribute to emergency preparedness planning and support execution of emergency procedures when needed
Maintain accurate records for inventory, supplies, preventative maintenance services, repairs, and facility equipment/tools
Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all health and safety regulations and standards
Respond promptly and effectively to facility-related concerns reported by staff or members
Assist with coordinating and assigning cleaning responsibilities across departments; develop and maintain a comprehensive cleaning schedule
Perform and help to oversee cleaning of common areas and classrooms; collaborate with staff and external vendors to ensure completion of cleaning tasks
Participate in snow removal operations to maintain safe and accessible facilities
Help prepare both facilities for the start and end of each program season, ensuring readiness and proper shutdown procedures
Required Qualifications:
While performing the duties of this job, the Facilities Operations Manager is frequently required to perform physical movements that may include a combination of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, reaching, lifting heavy objects, pushing, pulling, and sometimes crawling.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience in facilities management or a related field (preferably in a busy environment)
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Communication and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is a plus.
Flexibility to work early afternoons, evenings, and weekends if needed.
Knowledge of pools and ice-skating facilities is a plus.
