Advanced Studies & Leadership

3 week summer program
 

The Advanced Studies & Leadership Program (ASLP) provides a 3 week summer college-like residential experience that emphasizes leadership and development, and project oriented instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) areas and the humanities for high achieving students from the Cape Cod Collaborative member districts.

Selection of Students 
Students participate in the program on the basis of most recent MCAS scores. Student scores must fall within the top 15% of their grade level. In addition, the following criteria will also be considered: 1. Past academic achievement 2. Interest in subject area 3. Current teacher recommendations (2) 4. Guidance Counselor or Principal recommendation

Curriculum
Each student will enroll in a three module Science/Technology/Engineering/Math Course (STEM Course). Students participate in four day modules, three hours each day, of exciting hands-on study which will include demonstrations and interactive work with world class technology and state-of-the-art science labs. "Power Engineering and Renewable Energy," "Navigation and Shiphandling," "Use of Remotely Operated Vehicles in Oceanography," "Ecology of Running Waters," "Marine Environmental Problems on Cape Cod," "Marine Science of Cape Cod," and "Hydroponics," "Oceanography," and "Emergency Management" will be topical areas (tentative) explored within each module. Each student will elect one Humanities course (75 minutes per day) to be selected from this tentative list of courses: "Improve with Improv," "Painting and Drawing", "Yearbook Development - Writing and Publication", "Critics Corner," "Musical Activity," and "Maritime History."  

Cost per Student
Tuition per student is $1300 for the three week residential experience. ($1240 tuition plus $60 non-refundable application fee = $1300.)
