The Terminal Operating System (TOS) Operator monitors and supports daily container terminal operations through the terminal operating system to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate execution of vessel, yard, gate, and rail activities. The role serves as a central coordination point between operations teams, planners, and technical support to maintain operational continuity and accurate system data. The position requires experience with terminal operating systems, strong operational awareness, and the ability to resolve system or operational discrepancies in real time. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, analyzing operational issues, and communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders. The role also involves maintaining accurate container inventory data, executing system transactions, and supporting operational decision-making during live terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor real-time terminal activities within the Terminal Operating System to ensure alignment with operational plans and schedules.
Execute and manage system transactions related to container movements, equipment assignments, and operational work instructions.
Identify and resolve operational exceptions, system discrepancies, and data errors to maintain operational continuity.
Coordinate with vessel, yard, gate, and rail operations to support changes in operational priorities or conditions.
Maintain accurate container inventory, location data, and equipment status within the system.
Provide first-level support to TOS users during live operations and escalate technical issues when necessary.
Document operational incidents and system issues while ensuring compliance with safety, company policies, and regulatory standards.
Core Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in container terminal operations, dispatch, or TOS-related roles.
Experience with Terminal Operating Systems such as Navis N4, Tideworks, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of vessel, yard, gate, and rail terminal operations.
Strong data accuracy, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
Spanish language proficiency at a conversational level preferred.
