Field Engineer in Training (EIT)

MD&A is looking to hire several recent Engineering graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities/Plant Engineering, Marine Engineering or other related field.
MD&A Field Engineers are a key part of a service team that provide a wide variety of services to power generation and industrial customers. These services include:
• Inspection of turbine / generator components
• Technical Direction
• Review of turbine inspection data
• Repair supervision
• Troubleshooting
• Rotor and Steampath alignment
• Outage Schedule tracking / manpower tracking
• Labor supervision
• Outage Planning
• Customer Training
Spend approximately two years working as an “Engineer In Training”. In this position you will work with Senior Field Engineering mentors to learn the skills and common maintenance practices required to perform inspections on both GE and Westinghouse steam turbine – generator units. Upon completion of the training, and when appropriate during the training, employee will work on billable assignments according to their skills and abilities.
Other activities may include:
• Assisting start-up engineers with system check outs after outages, monitoring turbine operation
• Assisting with turbine laser alignment
• Vibration analysis and balancing turbine generators
Travel:
This position requires extensive travel within the US, and on occasion outside the US for short periods. This is a full-time position.

Location:
Position is based in Latham, NY but relocation is not required.

Requirements:
• BS Engineering degree
• Strong understanding of power generation equipment and related support systems.
• Person must be able to work in an industrial environment.
• Successful candidates will be required to pass drug screen and background review.

Preferences:
• Prior experience working on power generation equipment, automobiles and related systems, industrial equipment or shipboard work experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Project Management experience
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
