Fitness on Campus
Gyms, Grounds, and Activities
There are a number of ways to stay active and work on your fitness at the Academy. From joining Athletics, to using one of our fitness centers, to joining a club, you have the options of a large campus within our tight community.
The Student Government Association (SGA) recognizes that providing positive outlets and opportunities for cadets is important to overall well-being. Physical wellness, without the stress or commitment of a varsity sport, is supported by clubs like Rock Climbing Club or Equestrian Club. Organizations such as Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) or Semper Fi Society provide networking and training opportunities. Collectively, all SGA clubs provide an opportunity for cadets to socialize with and learn from their shipmates in positive environments.
Clean Harbors Pool
Our Olympic sized pool at the Academy is used during orientation in the summer, is routinely used by cadets, faculty and staff for recreational purposes, by our athletic trainers for athletics aquatics rehab and hosts a number of swim clubs from the Bourne and Wareham area.
Note: the pool is not open to the public.
Free Weight Room
Open to all cadets, faculty and staff, the weight rooms in the Clean Harbors Athletics Center is home to the power rack room, free weight rooms, and selectorized room. They offer state of the art equipment for all of your weight training needs.
Alumni Gym
Home to the Buccaneer women’s volleyball team, the Alumni Gym can hold up to 500 people for volleyball matches and other campus events. This space is also used by our other teams for practices. This area is routinely used by cadets, faculty and staff for recreational purposes. Surrounding the gym area on the second level is our cardiovascular area on one side and our pressbox area on the other.
