Haugland Marine Service, a subsidiary of Haugland Group, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Deckhand to join our team.

Deckhands will be responsible to maintain the vessels in a state of readiness to perform work for customers as needed. Job includes pulling heavy lines, climbing onto, and walking on barges, boats and narrow barge walkways. Employees will regularly be required to stand, walk, climb, crawl, stoop, and sit. Heavy lifting will also be required, up to 50lbs unassisted.

Key Functions

- Tying off barges, opening/closing lids, pumping out bilge water, inspecting barges for damage
- Tending lines and monitor level loading/ unloading of barges.
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs, where applicable.
- Assist welders with barge repairs.
- Efficiently clean barges and maintain the equipment used in the unloading, storing, and reclaiming process.
- Assist with required vessel reports in compliance with environmental, safety and USCG regulations and report any problems or damage.
- General housekeeping and upkeep of the vessel washing, chipping, painting, cleaning etc.
- Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attends daily pre-shift meetings.
- Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations; including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Inland waterway decking experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to meet requirements of PFT and fit testing, when applicable.
- Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable.
- Ability to distinguish, differences or similarities in intensity or quality odors; recognizing odors.
- Ability to understand and communicate both written and verbal instructions.

Working Conditions

- Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, etc.) and high dust levels
- Travel, 5%-20% travel may be required at some facilities.
- Ability and flexibility to work a variety of schedules and hours including nights/weekends and holidays
