The Boiler Mechanic is responsible for the operation, maintenance, renovation, and repair of boiler systems within a facility. They ensure that these systems are functioning safely and effectively, in compliance with all local and national codes. The Boiler Mechanic plays a crucial role in maintaining the facility's heat generation and distribution infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities:
Installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of boiler systems within the facility.
Calibration and regular adjustment of boiler system controls to maximize efficiency.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving for operational and functional boiler system issues.
Responding promptly to service calls and requests related to boiler system issues.
Collaborating with other tradespeople, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure correct project work and code compliance.
Staying updated on changes in field safety and boiler codes.
Maintaining clear communication with the facility manager, team members, and other relevant parties about work performed and the present status of projects.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training or apprenticeship, and five years of related experience.
Knowledge of local boiler codes and regulations is required.
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
Excellent understanding of boiler systems, including the ability to read system diagrams and troubleshoot issues.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor related to boiler system maintenance and repair.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Possible frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.

Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
