Job Summary:
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and components to ensure safe and reliable operation. This includes wiring, lighting, control systems, and power distribution equipment. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in industrial, marine, or construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, connect, and test electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to project specifications and local electrical codes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine layout and installation procedures.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform corrective maintenance on systems such as switchboards, transformers, motors, and lighting circuits.
• Assemble and install conduits, cable trays, junction boxes, and control panels.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, NEC, or equivalent) and company policies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and assist with electrical testing procedures (e.g., insulation resistance, continuity, and voltage checks).
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to coordinate installations and resolve site challenges.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and test results.
• Support commissioning and startup activities when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance (industrial or marine experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and electrical codes.
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, testing equipment, and electrical instruments.
• Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, or in shipboard environments when required.
Occasional work aboard marine vessels / shipyard / dockside.
Passport required for international travel.
Must be able to get a TWIC card for work in US ports.
Must be eligible to travel to Canada.
