General Responsibilities

The Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track professor to teach departmental engineering courses and core engineering courses as needed. This position supports the educational mission of the ESE Department within the School of Engineering and its commitment to provide high-quality educational opportunities. The ESE curriculum includes applied engineering courses that focus on the engineering design and operation of conventional, alternative, and renewable energy generation systems as well as power distribution and management.

General Responsibilities:

  • Teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in ESE Department courses in Electrical Power Distribution, Energy Systems and Energy Management, as well as core engineering courses in Electronics and Electrical Machines with associated labs, as needed
  • Be responsible for undergraduate laboratory instruction and curricula, including design of the quality, efficacy and learning outcomes of experiments
  • Advise, mentor and guide cadets on individual plans of study and progress toward degree
  • Opportunity to develop and teach new courses consistent with emerging industry demands and the academic goals of the ESE Department

Qualifications and Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • PhD in Engineering OR a Master of Science in Engineering by the desired start date, plus a Professional Engineer license in any State, with the capability of receiving a Massachusetts license, by comity, within the first six months of employment
  • Documented teaching experience
  • Ability to mentor and guide student development
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through the modeling of inclusive behaviors  

Possess legal authorization to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or Energy/Power Systems Engineering by the desired start date
  • Have experience teaching the specific ESE Department courses listed above
  • Show evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • Have experience with 3D Modeling software or other industry standard modeling software
  • Demonstrated relevant industry experience in electrical power distribution, energy systems or energy management

Tenure-Track appointment as professor at the Assistant or Associate level will be commensurate with prior full-time teaching experience. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves teaching and shares our dedication to excellence in undergraduate education.

Salary

Salary: $70,000-$74,000 based on education, qualifications and experience.
