Director of Human ResourcesGeneral Responsibilities
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the sourcing, onboarding, training, assessing and retention of employees. As management’s representative, ensures collective bargaining agreements are adhered to, thereby bolstering employee relations, job satisfaction and productivity
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the recruitment of faculty and staff by developing and advertising job vacancies that effectively and efficiently source staffing that aligns with the Academy’s vision, mission and goals.
- Responsible for identifying ways to increase staff retention and productivity, including strategies to promote an institutional culture of respect.
- Assists with risk mitigation through proactive training and education, establish practices for managing conflicts with and between employees, handling and investigating complaints of harassment/discrimination and other unjust practice allegations.
- Serves as a Title IX Co-Coordinator for faculty, staff, contractor and guest reports and serves as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with Clery reporting requirements.
- Responsible for identifying and facilitating compliance training including, but not limited to, State Ethics training, Sexual Harassment Training, and search committee training.
- Provides guidance and support to senior management regarding contractual personnel actions, including the evaluation process, professional development, promotion, training, and performance issues.
- Serves as the Human Resources representative on Academy search committees, coordinating with search chairs to facilitate the scheduling, interviewing, and hiring processes for candidates.
- Manages the new employee onboarding process, including conducting reference checks, preparing written contracts, submitting onboarding tickets, coordinating with payroll and relevant department heads, and leading employee orientation sessions.
- Ensures employee files and records are properly and securely maintained.
- In accordance with collective bargaining agreements and in collaboration with Payroll, oversees attendance reporting, the administration of unit sick leave banks, and approved leave programs including Family & Medical Leave.
- Serve as the primary contact for Workers Compensation reporting.
- Assists in the preparation of materials and documentation for the Clerk of the Board.
- Guides management and employees by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies.
- Complies with federal, state and local requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and updates knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- 2+ years of Human Resources experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Certificate in Human Resources Management
- Knowledge and/or experience of higher education policies and practices
- Experience with labor relations
- Title IX Investigator experience
