Assistant Director, Maritime Center for Responsible Energy (MCRE)General Responsibilities
General Statement of Duties: The Assistant Director, MCRE works with both full and part time MCRE personnel to ensure the smooth delivery of all MCRE programs, including scheduling of classes and instructors, course delivery, student registration, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Responsibilities:
Primary classes supported:
Advanced Ship handling Course:
- Prepare vessels and training facility for classes.
- Provide support during class including operating launch/ safety vessel. Participating in exercises and simulations.
- Position floats, buoys for specific exercises in class.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep on models.
- Perform maintenance on channel markers including building and painting channel markers.
- Participate in launching and hauling manned models and floats in Spring and Fall.
USCG Approved Courses
- Maintain curriculum and prepare renewals for USCG approval.
Offshore Wind Training
- Serve as Instructor for Global Wind Organization (GWO) training modules
- Inspect and maintain all course equipment including fall protection equipment, immersion suits, PFDs, life raft and rescue, evacuation gear.
- Set up and break down facilities before and after class.
- Inspect all equipment and maintain records of same
- Work with vendors to coordinate repair/ replacement of damaged equipment.
- Participate in required Audits and inspections
Qualifications and Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- USCG License, 100 Ton Master or higher
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, report writing, and oral and written communication skills
- Strong Leadership Skills
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in appropriate discipline
- GWO Basic Safety Training certification
- Significant small boat handling experience
