The Role:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to enhance our engineering team. In this role, you will focus on improving the electrical systems of our autonomous surface vehicles, WAM-V and PowerBuoy®. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our marine platforms' electrical systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your electrical engineering expertise in marine robotics, contributing to our mission while setting new standards in the industry.

Responsibilities:

Develop and refine electrical systems for autonomous marine vehicles and buoys, including power distribution, signal processing, and safety systems.
Collaborate with the Technology & Innovation team to design and implement innovative electrical solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of OPT products.
Engage in electrical systems diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Assist in the design and development of electrical prototypes, including wiring, connectors, and control systems, tailored to marine environments.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of electrical documentation, such as schematics, datasheets, and operation manuals.
Provide support in identifying and resolving electrical issues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an electrical engineering role, with a preference for backgrounds in marine systems or robotics.
Proficient in electrical circuit design and analysis.
Solid understanding of electrical components, wiring, and safety standards related to marine applications.
Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Must be a U.S. citizen
Desired:

Experience with marine or aquatic electrical systems and standards.
Familiarity with power management, control systems, and environmental sealing.
Hands-on experience with field testing and willingness to engage in sea trials.
Eligibility for US Government Security clearance.
