Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

WIN Waste Innovations is currently seeking an EHS Specialist that will be responsible for routine operations support, assistance, and coordination. The Specialist performs routine inspections, responds to EHS type events, and helps each assigned site with administrative environmental and safety systems, reports, and submissions.

What You'll Do...

Training and Meetings:
Implement safety and environmental training programs for facilities. Arrange, coordinate and perform training, including new employee (on-boarding) orientation and on-going training programs. Aid the Environmental and Safety Managers with evaluation of training methods and presentations used by facilities.
Establish, assist, and participate in EHS meetings, incident review calls, operations calls, site Safety Committee and other meetings as assigned.
Completes on-boarding training programs within the time frame prescribed, and requests support from corporate EHS staff when necessary.
Assist the site team(s) with completing Observations and help the local management team assess performance.
Aid site, safety, and environmental leadership in coaching employees based on performance and needs.
Attend and participate in facility meetings to evaluate the team's commitment, function, and effectiveness. Provide input on environmental compliance and safety related matters, continuous improvement projects, share best practices; keep abreast of current facility issues.
Periodically meet with Plant Manager/General Manager and/or Operations Manager to discuss open environmental compliance and safety issues, requests for information, regulatory interpretations, change management, etc.
Participate in school programs, tours, and other public presentations as appropriate.
Support and Travel to 5-7 locations within the local geographic footprint.

Inspection, Monitoring, and Reporting:
Develops, implements, and maintains monitoring programs for solid waste generation and water discharges to meet the requirements of federal and state regulations, laws and regulations, and corporate environmental, health and safety policies.
Implements, follows and assists in enforcement of company policies and procedures to assure an environmentally compliant, safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Establishes and maintains routine site visit calendar and communicates to facility operations teams to maximize effectiveness of site visits.
Monitors and completes EHS inspections for each assigned facility for compliance with all federal, state, county and local operating permits. Prepares and submits reports to Operations and EHS on findings and recommended actions.
Provide on-site stack test observation and stack test support
Assist with Air program compliance reporting

Incident Response:
Act as, respond to, or assist as an Emergency Coordinator for the facility in the event of a significant environmental or safety event.
Serve as the main point of contact for communication, documentation and reporting to environmental and safety regulatory agencies as assigned.
Assist the Safety, Environmental, and Operations team with initial reporting for each environmental compliance or safety incident. Aid the Operations, Safety, and Environmental team with root cause analysis, gathering evidence, aid with any required reporting, interviewing employees, and ensuring all actions take place in the required time frame.

Administrative and Site Support:
Provides operations team support with maintaining compliance with FMCSA regulated Driver and Vehicle files.
Assist Operations with planning, execution, and evaluation of emergency drills.
Maintains accurate filing system for environmental compliance and safety records.
Be the primary point of contact and provide administration for safety and environmental computer systems such as Lytx, Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM), SharePoint, PI, Velocity and TagLink.
Support other projects as directed such as PMO (Project Management Office), VPP Preparation (OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program), Clean Sweeps, etc. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback to plant management
Performs outage scaffold inspections as needed

Who You Are...
Bachelor of Arts/Science in Safety, Engineering, Environmental or experience in a technical position
Math skills sufficient to complete required job functions
Working knowledge of computers and ability to learn new EHS software systems
Initiative to work independently
Ability to travel between WIN facilities
Interface with front line employees and site management
Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using intercom system, two-way radio or face to face

The Operations Integrity Manager is responsible for developing and managing policies and procedures that promote a culture of operational excellence across Sprague’s Terminals, Fleet, Service, and Delivery Operations. This role ensures consistent performance aligned with best-in-class standards, oversees training programs to reinforce operational integrity, and manages Facility Security Plans (FSPs) for MTSA-regulated facilities in coordination with the USCG. The position also supports compliance with emerging cyber security regulations.

Operational Excellence & Policy Management

- Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures that promote safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
- Maintain centralized control of critical operational documents including SOPs, best practices, and internal policies.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization and operational performance.

Training & Development

- Design and deliver training programs to ensure comprehensive understanding of operational policies, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Support occupational performance through targeted training modules for operators, drivers, and technicians.

Compliance & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Conduct integrity inspections across terminals, fleet, and delivery operations to ensure adherence to Sprague policies.
- Identify operational variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with HSE to analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, reliability, and compliance, and work together to implement improvement strategies.
- Facilitate reviews of terminal reports and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and HSE teams on initiatives to ensure adherence to policies and best practices.

Security & Risk Management

- Serve as Company Security Officer, managing Facility Security Plans for all MTSA-regulated facilities.
- Coordinate with Facility Security Officers and the USCG on FSP submissions, updates, and audits.
- Collaborate with the Company Cyber Security Officer to ensure compliance with evolving cyber security regulations.
- Conduct job safety analyses to identify risks and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure equipment suitability and compliance with applicable standards.

Qualifications

- Minimum 10 years of experience in terminal and fleet operations or a related maritime/industrial field.
- Proven strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong organizational, project management, and training development skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work with proprietary systems.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%; valid driver’s license required.
